I remember Rob enthusiastically writing stories on his Apple II computer (the ones with the super small screen), hoping to someday be published. One day he invited me to accompany him on a visit to a museum featuring movie scripts; the museum may have been The Writers Guild Foundation, I don't remember the name. What I do remember is that, as we walked through the rooms looking at the featured movie scripts, Rob turned to me and stated something like, "Someday I hope to also write movie scripts." I have always been impressed with his vision and his dedication to fulfilling his dreams. Additionally, the stories he has shared to the world through his books and movies have consistently been about touching the heart through love, compassion, and innocence. His themes have reminded me about the goodness in life. I am appreciative of what he has offered the world and of what his friendship has meant to me.
Rob's friends at Thirty-sixth Church send their love, care, and gratitude for all Rob contributed to the Church and its members as a Sunday School teacher, Reader, and active member on several committees.  We always remember him for his kindness and humor.  We miss seeing him but know he is in the Father's care.
It was an honor to meet Rob and get to know him when he came to work at Alta Vista.  He was imaginative, innovative, insightful, kind, full of joy and humor.  The Alta Vista family is forever grateful for his selfless service to our community.  I know he loved his time in Santa Barbara and I will always treasure the chats we had.

What a dear and kind man!  I've known Rob for years through our association at church in Studio City.  And before 2020, we'd touch bases in Boise once a year.  Of all his writings, my very favorite is The Christmas Star.  I'm going to take it off the shelf and read it again and think of Rob as he continues his journey in Life that never dies.
Rob was such a light and true gentleman. I'll never forget the twinkle in his eye and the kindness in his heart. I'll cherish memories of sunny walks along the Boise River filled with laughs and insightful conversations that often continued until evening as our group enjoyed mud pies at The Ram. Rob's creativity and incredible heart will continue to bless us through his stories and movies. I'm so grateful to have known him.
I was so sorry to hear about Robert's passing. My kids loved having him as their Sunday School teacher. Rob was always so full of love, kindness, and enthusiasm.

I am shocked by this sad news. I still find it hard to believe. I can't understand that he won't be among us anymore. Rob and I were very close. He was a part of my life. We communicated until his last days. He said he was fine, and I was shocked when I found out that he passed away unexpectedly a couple of days later.

He was a gentleman with such a kind, gentle soul. He was a wonderful person. I will never forget his smile and great sense of humor. Rob made every moment fun, warm and enjoyable. He was one of the kindest most caring people I knew.

I asked him, "What makes you happy or calm?"

"I love looking out at an ocean sunset or at a starry night sky. I talk to God, feel the peace", he said.

His great writing talent is expressed in many of his movies, books and short stories.

"How do you come up with ideas for your books and scripts?", I asked.

"God just sends me the ideas. That’s the only way I can explain it. They come like a flowing fountain.", he replied.

I'm sure he's in Heaven now, next to God.

I cherish the moments we had with him and I feel a real loss. The memory of Rob will always live in my heart. He was a wonderful person who anyone would be fortune to know.

I grateful for every moment I had with you, Rob and I miss you every day. I'll never forget you. Never.  You will be in my heart forever. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Rob. I love you ❤

It was indeed a blessing to have known Rob for the time we had. He is – without a doubt – one of the kindest and sweetest person I have ever met. Rob has such a pure-hearted soul that gives joy to everyone around him. I’ll forever miss him and the times I have known him.

I am lucky to have known Rob and call him family. I always admired his eclectic taste. From history documentaries to Gilmore Girls. He was a special, unique, smart, funny, talented, loving man. Uncle Robbie, as we affectionally called him, is the reason I have my beloved dog, Orville. It was his kind heart and love for animals that led him to stop, in the darkness, on a busy street to rescue the little pup. We were always so proud of him. Watching Three Days every Christmas season became a tradition for the kids and I, and going to church service and watching him as a reader filled my heart with comfort.

Rob, you are loved always. Thank you!!

With gratitude,

Rob, will be in my memory as a good friend and fellow member at “Thirty-sixth Church”.   He was deserving of a happier life and I know he will find that going forward.

Rob,

You are a gentle soul and an amazing dude! All the years living with you and Gina were awesome. We shared many movie nights (lots of those being Jerry Maguire and Titanic, lol)  sports nights, games of horse. So glad you got to see your beloved Dawgs win the National Championship one last time this year.

Very grateful to have you in my life.

You will be missed on this planet but I know we will see you again on the next level.

Til then big dawg! Love you man!

Kenny

Rob was my dear friend and colleague for many years. He had the sharpest wit I know, and everything was more fun and funny being around him and seeing things through his eyes. At the same time, he was deeply spiritual, a southern gentleman and a great story teller, all rarities in these times. I am going to miss him so much, but I know his life continues and he is blessed many times over by all the good he did and brought to others in this world.
I met Rob several years ago, h was one of my closest friends. He always saw the best in others and was a beautiful soul. I will miss him and the light he brought with his love and kindness.
Thankful to have had the time I had with Uncle Rob growing up. I will always remember him for his kindness and his advice to me when I graduated from college— that there is no hurry to figure everything out in life and that things seem to just fall into place and be more perfect than what you were even hoping for. Rest in peace Rob.
Rob was a good man with a kind heart. We will miss him dearly.
Rob joined our family as an “adopted “ & cherished son after both his parents had passed. We love you, Rob,  & will miss your gentle kindness, & loving perception of the goodness in everyone you knew. Your gracious spirit, & talent for writing  is expressed in your many inspiring books, tv shows  & movies. The twinkle in your eyes & clever sense of humor is ever with us.  Our love, Carolyn & the Farmer Family.
I first met Rob about 25 years ago.  We spent our days together playing beach volleyball in Playa Del Rey, running the Santa Monica stairs, playing soccer Sundays after church and on flag football teams.  Rob loved God,  and Georgia football.  Go Dawgs! We laughed constantly.  Walks along the Boise River and Mud Pies were guarantees when we got together.  I am grateful for the memories, laughter and friendship with my eternal Pal!
