Doug was like a second father to my son and others, as they grew up together at Worthington Christian. He made sure they had safe fun together and cheered them on at all the their sporting events. Tears for Robbie and my son who Share his memories.

I met Doug in the early 90's as part of a consulting project with Microsoft. We had an instant connection and really hit it off. He shared his faith and invited me to his men's bible study. This invitation had a profound impact on my faith journey and my life. Later, he would invite me to what he described as "the most expensive breakfast of my life" when he introduced me to Water for Good and asked me to get involved, which I did. Serving on the board of Water for Good with him and having many great times, and great discussions, I experienced his fun loving spirit and his generous compassion for people constantly. His PASSION for bringing life-saving water (or warter, as he would say) to the neediest and most underserved is absolutely unsurpassed. Doug had an impact on each individual he came in contact with, an impact on our world here, and an impact on God's kingdom. He was a force, and his legacy will live on. I can still hear his typical greeting of  "Hey, handsome!" with a big smile and a hug. It is hard to believe that saying goodbye to him in the airport lounge just hours before his passing, would be my final words to him in this life, but we will see each other again in the next. "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Godspeed, brother!

Leslie and Brennan family, I am heartbroken and I am very sorry for your loss. Doug and I got to know each other in high school and we even got our Lifeguarding certification together at the Worthington pool. While never close friends, I considered him a kindred spirit and I loved Doug. When my daughter was doing a school project at Our Lady of Peace we visited with Doug and he was so kind to Parin and gave her lots of great information for her report. Ever since then, and it's been about 10 years, Doug and I would get together for breakfast a couple times a year. We had our last breakfast Sunny Street Cafe a couple of months ago. I was so looking forward to finding ways to spend more time with him as he was a wonderful/ amazing human being. I am sure you will hear from a lot of of people like me, people who loved calling Doug a friend. He touched my life and I am better for knowing him. I was always looking forward to seeing him again, discussing our faith, our families and it warmed my heart to know that he had found you, Leslie. God bless you, I am so very sorry for your loss.
