Vince Garofalo and I observed a moment of silence today for Doug. We speak of him so often and he is always in our hearts as we honor his legacy with our daily work. 🙏🏽
Enjoyed chatting with Doug when he worked out at ADAC - he was always positive and finding ways to make the world a better place. Also had the opportunity to meet both Danny and Robby at the gym from time to time and enjoyed catching up with them as well. Truly a wonderful family.

i dig Doug.

I believe in love.

I believe in acts of service.

I believe in acts of general kindness…

I believe that love is and does all the above.

Sometimes we all find ourselves

in a group that is above our pay grade.

And only love will bridge such gaps.

And lets just set aside the fact that wars are fought

to maintain such delineation amongst mere mortals…

and focus on how love is greater than war.

Or famine. Or injustice.

Or lack of water...

Or any old thing that would rise up against us.

Against our human race.

Cheating us against one another…

“May I get you a refill?”

It was nothing new.

I’d come to expect it.

I bet all of us had.

Of all the powerful men at the table,

he would most usually be the one to refill my drink.

This time, ineffably, it was water.

I was on a diet thing that didn’t allow other liquids.

And that cool glass of water appeared.

As did Doug’s smile. And attention.

Never tepid. Just pleasant.

Because if he wasn’t refilling our cups, he was asking how we are doing.

All whilst intentionally pulling a stool nearer to listen to the freakin’ answer!

Peppering his focus with further questions, inserting details from past conversation.

You feel like The President…

…of the table anyway.

Meanwhile, your cup just stays full.

I dig you, Doug…always did.

And I miss you…

And will never stop filling other people’s cup.

Can’t wait to be President of some ‘lil cafe in Paradise.

I bet those cups are amazing...as is Doug...

and that smile.

save a place for me!

Doug was the best neighbor to have when you were new to the building, 250 Daniel Burnham Sq.  Always friendly and smiling!

I am so sorry for the loss of this man, a True Gentleman.  He was always a spark of energy in the SAE house, a guy who had charisma tenfold.  Back then, he could have sold swampland to an alligator, but he knew how to make friends and how to create atmosphere.  Others gravitated toward him.  I remember once during elections he and I were both up for the position of President.  I only ran so that he didn't run uncontested, actually.  But, we both made speeches to the chapter.  When we were done, we both had to step out of the chapter room so that the brothers could discuss us.  He told me he was nervous, even though I knew he had no reason to be.  I told him that I was nervous too.  He said that he was nervous because he really wanted to win, and I told him that I was nervous because I was afraid that I might win.  It all worked out.  He won, and I'm glad that his early days of leadership at SAE might have triggered all the great things that he has gone on to do.  He will be missed.  Phi Alpha, brother.  Rest easy in Chapter Eternal.  Love and Peace.

Marge, Leslie and family, I am truly sorry for your loss. Doug was best friends with my brother Mike during high school and the years following. He was part of our family during that time, going on vacation with us and spending time at my parents house. I had the pleasure of babysitting for his adopted sister.  Doug used his famous networking skills and got me my first job at a daycare center. Also my Dad purchased Doug's blue Mazda for me as a college graduation gift.  When my first child was born, Doug came to the hospital and brought my son his first stuffed animal.  We all loved Doug like family. Peace to you all.

Leslie, Danny & Robbie,

I cannot express how saddened I am by the news of Doug’s passing.  I was on my flt to Columbus this morning to attend the services only to have my flt delayed for 4 hours.  Because it was a day trip, it didn’t leave me enough time to catch my flt home tonight, very sorry I could not be there with you today.

Doug worked for me my entire tenure at MS, and was a true team player.  Whatever role we gave him, he accepted graciously, as long as it helped the team out.   30 yrs at MS explains everything, nobody makes it there that long…except Doug!!

I felt like I knew Danny & Robbie because of how much he talked about them growing up, he was SO proud of you both!

I left MS in 2016, and saw Doug in 2019 in the MS offices…he came up to me and gave me the ‘Doug bear hug’ and said ‘how u doin brotha’?  When I asked how he was doing, he had the biggest smile on his face and said ‘met the love of my life and getting married’!  He was SO happy and I was happy for him!  Leslie, I’m glad you got 3 great years with him.

His work with Water for Good tells everything you ever wanted to know about Doug…selfless, generous, God serving.  I will miss my friend and an all around great person, we all can learn from Doug and how he lived his life.

Celebrate how he lived, a truly great human being.  🙏🙏

So many wonderful memories of Doug. We met in the early 1990’s when we both attended Northwest Chapel.   There, we both worked with the youth group and grew close as friends.  As life got busy, we didn’t spend consistent time together, but the handful of times each year we did see each other were like no time had passed.  Doug Brennan was an incredible man, and amazing friend. He has left an indelible mark on so many on this earth. He touched lives across the globe with his testimony for Jesus Christ.  The love of Jesus true shined in Doug!  I am forever blessed and grateful to have known him.

Margaret, we love you, and are praying for you all during this sad time.  I take great joy knowing that we will see Doug again, and the time we are apart will pale to insignificant in light of eternity together.

Doug is an exceptional human being! While at MSFT, I had the privilege of being his manager and his friend for about 15+ years. Doug’s kindness, his ability to put people first, and his desire to only see the best in people - are just some of the qualities that endeared him to everyone! His loyalty to his friends and his family, his passion for Water for Good, and his unshakable faith, are just some of the wonderful traits we would remember him for.. Doug will never be forgotten by anyone who had the honour of meeting him even for a few precious moments! There will never be another Doug.. I hope all of us will continue supporting his causes, and will make sure that his legacy has a lasting impact on the world! May Doug’s memory be a blessing..
