My condolences to the Derry family. I worked with Steve for the last couple of years. He  always had great input on places for me to take the kids fishing around Mansfield. I had many conversations with him on music, concerts, local history etc. I was always impressed with whatever stone sculptures he would be making at the time. He surely will be greatly missed. May he Rest In Peace.
My heart goes out to the Derry family. I'm going to miss our early morning Monday talks about how Joey Lagano screwed up during the race on Sunday and his concert stories from when he was growing up. I've had the pleasure of working with him at Instron for the last several years and I can say that his Instron family will miss him greatly❤️

It’s hard to believe you are gone. I can’t seem to wrap my head around it because I don’t want to believe it.

I want to start out by saying thank you. There are not enough words in the world to explain how thankful I am for you and how much I appreciate everything you have ever done for Charlie, Riley, and me. We are so blessed to have had you in our lives.

I am truly so grateful and so lucky to have been welcomed into your family as one of your own. You have raised such an amazing and beautiful family. You should be very proud of that.

These past 6 years of knowing you has been such an amazing ride. Between helping find Charlie and I’s first home and working on making it our own, getting to marry into your family and becoming a Derry, being able to give you your first grandchild, taking my first trip up to Canada and seeing your favorite places, and all the fun in between, it’s been such a blessing getting to experience it all with you.

Riley is going to miss her Grampa (Grumpa) so much. It was always so fun watching you with her and seeing how much you loved your little poo monkey. It always melted my heart when you were with her. Charlie and I promise to always tell her stories of you as she grows up so that way she knows how funny (and crazy!) and amazing her Grampa was.

I know we will be seeing you again. Until then, we can’t wait to see what kind of pranks and jokes you have for us in the meantime.

Riley and I love and miss you so much already🤍

Sixty years of memories with Steven that became a hundred years of stories that I always loved hearing and telling.  He was patient, generous, and always ready for the next adventure.  We will miss him dearly.  Our deepest condolences to all of the Derrys and Steven's many friends.

Charlie, Maryann & James Hunter Mathews

My deepest condolences to the Derry family. Steve was one of the kindest person I've ever meet, he taught me alot in the 4 years I knew him. The world has lost one of its most bright shining lights. Steve will truly be missed his legacy will live on through his family and he will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Steve 💔 😔
Steven was like a second dad to myself and my brothers growing up! He truly had such a kind heart and was able to make any room erupt with laughter from a story he had to tell. One of my favorite memories of him was one time I was driving through Sharon and I saw him driving his maroon truck, he saw me as well and we waved and kept on going our own ways. Such a small moment but he looked so happy driving that truck that everyone knew he loved. I can imagine he was blasting The Who. Steven was also the best hugger ever, which I think was one of his best qualities! I will miss him a lot, and so will the rest of the O’Neill family. To our second family, the Derry’s, we love you guys and will be there for you always. Sending all the love and support to you during this time!❤️
Keeping your family in my prayers. So so sorry for your loss 🤍

Gone but never forgotten. Steven’s personality was larger than life.  From the time i was a young kid he was always the same guy- extremely generous,  a great sense of humor always looking for a laugh, and a great story teller. When i think of Steven- it’s the creative nicknames he came up with, his burly mustache and great head of hair, his rock statues and welding projects, and of course “The Who”. All of his amazing qualities  live within you guys and his legacy will be carried on. The movie “Big Fish” always reminded me of Steven. There’s one quote from the movie that i wanted to share: “A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal.”

Thinking of Fran, Charlie, Shane, Kathryn and Shannon-stay strong guys. And same to the rest of the Derry family and anyone close to Steven.

My most sincere condolences to Steve’s wife and his whole family and friends, we worked together for three years and he was the best friend one could ever ask for, he always went out of his way to lend a helping hand.

He will be greatly missed here at Instron.

May you rest in the arms of Jesus my dear friend Steve.

So very sorry for your loss Fran, sending hugs and prayers to you and your family.
We are so sorry to hear of Steven’s passing and for Frannie her children and all of Steven’s family. Steven was honestly one of the nicest people we have ever met and will be greatly missed by all! Sincerely Al, Sandra and Cameron and Aidan Burke
My heart breaks for you all. Steven had so many interests & such a mischievous /kind streak in him! Always ready to tease or pull  a joke on the kids. I always think of him when I see any kind of rock creations on the beach, like maybe he had been there! I usually gave him his birthday gift on Christmas Eve so I wouldn’t miss it, I loved that he loved random old things like I did, vintage toys, perpetual calendars,  fun stuff! I’m glad I got see why he loved Canada & what he built there.  I love how he could be quietly plotting around the edge of the crowd and stand so high above us in our family photos. I loved his love for his family & his devotion to his parents as they aged. He was filling bird feeders at the rehab center for patients he didn’t know, I loved how sweet & thoughtful he was to Amy in Maine. I am sad to have him leave, for what he will miss, but know he will always be loved.❤️
