To all the Heath family—I was a friend and classmate of Stanley at Richmond Academy. Although we lost touch for the most part after high school, I recognize in these tributes the man that he was already becoming as a teenager. Kind, friendly, loyal, responsible, a leader and always a gentleman. I am grateful to have known him. You have my deepest condolences.         Martha Echols Mixon

Our deepest condolences to Amie, Lauren and Jordan.

Sheila and I have been your neighbors for about 20 years - how time flies when you have great neighbors.

Over our time as neighbors and seeing each other often - whether meeting in the yard or at the mailbox or returning from a stroll - Stan was always a welcome site.

Over the years it has been so rewarding to see Stan transition from Active Duty to government service to part-time woodworker (showing us his very creative projects) -but through it all, he remained a wonderful family man, neighbor and friend.

Stand touched us in a special and positive ways in his neighborly interactions, many offers to help and great advice.

Will miss Stan and our conversations.

Amie, Lauren and Jordan thank you for sharing Stan with us.

Sheila and Henry

Stan was a great guy and I had the opportunity to work with him on many occasions; I’ll miss our conversations.  I’m truly heartbroken for his family.  Praying God’s peace for the family in the midst of their unimaginable sorrow.

Stan was a mentor, colleague, and friend for the twelve years I had the honor to work side by side with him. He was always people and mission first. May his memory be a blessing for all who knew him. Good bye my friend.

Stan maintained and updated the National Public Information Officer list for the United States, and as PIO of Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, I've communicated with him via email and phone. I have always admired how efficient, friendly and responsive he has been. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. His loss is felt here in Nebraska. Wishing his entire family, friends, and colleagues peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow.

Sending my condolences and love to Stan's family and loved ones. I worked with Stan briefly in the last few years on preparing for national incidents. He was a pleasure to work with and his kindness and dedication to his work came through in all of our interactions. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am devastated to hear this news about Stan. We have been work colleagues back when DHS was new and I was working at FEMA. He was wonderful to work with. Dedicated to his job, unflappable, easy to work with even when times got chaotic. (I remember one NICCL where he was very amused that I was at the farm at the time and he heard my horse make a noise!) A truly wonderful person. He will be greatly missed. My sympathies to his family. Such a loss. Holly Harrington

Amie, Lauren and Jordan,

I am so sorry for your loss. Stan was an amazing man who brightened the day of anyone he came across. I had the honor of serving with Stan in Iraq and again in his role at DHS and always enjoyed our interactions. Prayers to the family during this difficult time.

Stan, you always were a man of surprises…this isn’t the good kind, though. We shared some really tough times as you joined PERSCOM just before 9/11. We also had a lot of laughs over silly things only PAOs could understand. Thanks for being a confidante, someone who always had my back and, mostly, a friend.

Take care of things until we meet again.

Sending big hugs to Amie, Lauren and Jordan. He loved you all so much and talked about you all the time. Rest easy, my friend.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Heath family. In addition to the tremendous loss to your family, his passing is an equally impactful loss to the nation and the government he served. Stan was one of those rare individuals who exemplified what it meant to serve your country with honor. I met Stan when he first arrived at the DHS Office of Public Affairs back in the mid-2000s. As the public affairs lead for incident communications at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, it was important for me to meet and get to know Stan, and we ended up working together regularly off an on for more than 15 years. And while I have many fond memories of our professional interactions together, the one that most stands out was a personal one. My son and I were walking down the street in Edgartown, MA in Martha’s Vineyard on our annual vacation there a few years ago…peacefully far away from the pressures of DC…and I hear my name shouted. I turn and there’s Stan with his wife Amie. We had a wonderful half-hour conversation, thankfully mostly not about work. It was one of those rare unexpected encounters you have with a friend, which I’ll now always remember fondly every time we go back there.  May you rest in peace Stan.

It’s said that while your birth and death are important, it’s really the dash in between that really matters…it’s your legacy…it’s what you accomplished to help others…in this regard I say “Well Done, Be Thou at Peace”.  I’ve known Stan since our Plebe Year together at The Academy…indeed, he was faithful and caring as this was his inner soul.  Rest easy, my friend…until we meet again.  Deepest Sympathy to the family.  Kevin Jones
It's funny how someone you only have brief encounters with can end up making a huge difference in your life, and also leave a long-lasting impression.   Stan was on the interview panel that ended up selecting me for, what would turn out to be, my most favorite job to-date.  I will always be so grateful to him for helping put me on that career path that I enjoyed so much.  In the years that followed, I still ran into Stan from time to time during federal incidents, and even chatted with him for advice on when I needed help determining future career moves.  He never knew how such simple acts on his part so greatly affected my career.  When I returned to DHS after a brief hiatus, Stan was one of the first people I e-mailed, excited to notify him that I had returned.  Even though our encounters were brief, he left such a significant impression on me because of his warmth, generosity, and genuineness.  Thank you, for everything, Stan.  You are so greatly missed by your DHS and PIO family.

My condolences to the entire Heath family.

I've only known Stan for a few years, but what I do know of him is that he was a good man who believed in doing the right thing when it came to the mission and people.

I am grateful that I was able to work in the same office with him for 3 months back in 2019 as he was always a joy to be around and talk with.

I know you will speak the truth to power up there my friend!

Rest in Peace Stan. My thoughts and prayers are with Stan's family as they deal with your tragic loss. Stan was a true friend - since our days as fellow Gophers - I had always appreciated his friendship. Always thoughtful and deliberate - and always willing to help me - others -  with our struggles. Stan helped me get through a tough Plebe year and then welcomed me when I arrived at DHS.   One of a kind - the nicest colleague I have ever had the pleasure of serving with. Stan touched many - he will be missed!
Deepest condolences to Stan's loved ones. Knew him two years at West Point and off and on in the Army. One of the most genuinely nice people I met along the way. Got to visit him at DHS when we both had federal jobs in DC, and he was the right person in the right place helping keep the homeland safe.
