Will not ever forget Shelley’s beautiful smile and her laugh. I can still remember when she started in the lab, feel like I know all her children so well. I was the one that did her schedule, helping her to be able to attend  their school events, vacations, etc.   as she worked evenings as a great Med Tech. Many lifetime memories.  My condolences to all of Shelley’s family and friends. Will miss you at our next “Old Timers” gathering.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Shelley's passing. I met Shelley thru our sons (Chris Hoersting) who were friends when they were young. We moved away but I always loved to see on FB what adventures she was having next. She definitely lived life to the fullest. She was beautiful inside and out. I know you all will miss her terribly.             Sue Oliver

I was shocked, heartbroken, and cried today as I read Alissa’s post about Shelley. I knew Shelley in high school in Aberdeen, SD. We were roommates in college at South Dakota State University. I promise you we had a lot of fun. We even danced in a dance recital together!  We camped in the Black Hills, and we completed a three-week camping trip all the way to the west coast and back before Shelley left for her next chapter of life in Anchorage, AK.  She was my maid of honor in my wedding, and I was her maid of honor in her wedding. We had a girls trip to San Francisco before my wedding. We saw each other a few times when she came back to South Dakota to visit family. Our conversations never missed a beat, and we would pick up right where we left off from the last time we talked. Even though we didn’t see each other much after we had kids, we still kept in touch at Christmas, birthdays, and of course on FaceBook. We were miles apart, but I always knew Shelley was there. I miss that beautiful smile and wonderful carefree spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with Alissa, Thom, and Patrick during this difficult time. I know how much your mom loved you all. ❤️  Shelley, I am glad you are cancer free and pain free now, and I know I will see you again. Love you forever friend.

She gave me a beautiful scarf when I was dealing with cancer.
I spent many, many afternoons at the log cabin helping visitors. She loved to practice her French with folks from French speak8ng countries.
In response to "What act of kindness did you witness from Shelley?"
I worked with Shelley at Visit Anchorage. I loved her bright smile and uplifting stories every day as I came to work. She was a true inspiration and such a wonderful friend. I’m happy she’s not in pain anymore but sad that she doesn’t walk among us anymore. Peace and solace to her family.

Shelley was such a bright light in our Anchorage ESL and Life Skills classes. She always brought a smile to everyone's faces. A beautiful and truly kind soul!
Sharing in your loss of a most dear person and woman warrior for peace, community and caring of others.  She was so fragile yet brave. In this we shared a common bond. Will be missing her greatly.
I knew Shelley from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Shelley was a kind, loving person. She demonstrated a deep love for her family. May God embrace you in His loving arms as you grieve for Shelley.
I’m so sorry for your dear Shelly’s passing. I knew her from our mutual passion to dance. She spoke to me about many things raising children as mine are younger. When I think of her, the first image is her smile and her soft kindness. She exhibited such class and poise. She reminded me in a way of my deceased mother (classy and kind). God bless you and hold on to the beautiful memories you each hold in a special place in your heart.
