We had the pleasure of most of our Scott interactions being at family weddings - his & Rachel's, ours and other cousins, too.  He brought joy to our world, always had fun stories to tell of adventures and partying. We talked often of getting him and the family to travel to Salt Lake to snowboard with us - and we hope to honor him with Rachel and the girls out here soon. Kurt feels grateful that Scott & Rachel pulled him into an opening day snowboarding adventure back in 2010 to Kirkwood (Kurt's only time riding in California). He remembers hooting and hollering along Scott with freshies hitting them in the face. For Kurt, Kirkwood will always make him think of Scott and he hopes to return to take some turns in his honor.

I don't recall the year, but this story takes place more than a decade ago, before my kids were born. Josh, Gwenie, Kurt, and I were all home for Thanksgiving when the heavens opened up and delivered 6 feet of snow overnight in Tahoe. Scott said "Let's go!". So we did! We stayed overnight with Scott and Rachel and got up early the next morning for the drive up to Kirkwood. The snow was great of course. But my favorite part was Scott saying, "Let's take this road, I'm pretty sure this is a shortcut I've taken before". Soon, the shortcut wasn't plowed, the snow was heavy and deep, and there were no other vehicles in sight. If we got stuck we would spend the day shoveling and pushing instead of snowboarding, so we decided to turn around. Turning around in unplowed snow can be a bit tricky and requires some confidence. My brain was still thinking through the sentence 'how are we going to turn around safely' when Scott threw the e-brake and skidded us around, on wet snow, on a very tight mountain road! None of us were expecting it and he executed it perfectly, of course.  The whole time from decision to action couldn't have been more than 5 seconds. I couldn't stop laughing.  That whole trip, Scott knew how to make us feel like we'd always been friends and always would be. The snow was indeed great, and it was made so much better because of the company.
