Seldom do you have the honor of meeting an angel in real life -

Gracious in sharing her wisdom; I was lucky enough to be one of her spring 21 students. Throughout the course we’d FaceTime once a week to talk. Every now and then I’d sneak in a question, but truthfully I just loved her charisma and energy.

Of the many gems of wisdom I jotted down, I’d like to share a few Sara’isms that still make me smile...

// “Hold the line - do not cave - we are not jumping through hoops, people
// “Find an investor that likes to gossip and say NO to them
// “I’m not teaching you how to raise money, I’m teaching you how to signal confidence
// “Yeah, anxiety about paying your rent is a real feeling! Have the feeling, just execute the plan... and if you’re still waking up in the middle of the night, well, try my CBD!

Thank you to Ms. Susan Towers for introducing us, absolute game-changer.
Just sick about this. A beautiful life cut way too short. Sending love and light to all who adored her - and there are many 💕🙏🏽

"I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that, we still are." We'll be on the river together again. Love you always, Sara.
So so much. How to live at full steam and intelligence, unapologetically, always leading with empathy, curiosity and kindness. I'm replaying her choreography in the kitchen, reaching high for tomato chutney, a low plié and pull for spices, a quick exit and re-entry for lettuce, a delighted nod as she poured a glass of bubbles, all while setting the rhythm with an update on the latest. I loved that she was a swimmer, too, and had I not had two ladies above their eighties with me on our visit to the farm, I would have gone with her to the river pool in Vernonia....and I looked forward to doing that with her. ~Katy

I am so sorry to hear about this terrible tragedy. I got to know Sarah briefly over the last few years. I was curious about the cannabis business and she invited me to her farm to educate me and even helped with my pitch deck when I was raising the first elevate capifal fund. I always admired her passion for equity and helping other women entrepreneurs and tenacity. She was honest and transparent about her views. I’m really shocked. This is so unexpected and saddening. She was doing such great work helping women entrepreneurs and is a great loss for the Portland entrepreneur community. May her soul rest in peace. My deepest condolences to Sara’s family friends.

Sara spoke at a women’s conference my ex business partner and I did for women’s empowerment in cannabis and she was such a great speaker and warm person all around. She was a powerhouse and truly someone so many of us women looked up to. I’m so sorry to hear of her loss and send my deepest condolences and biggest hugs to her friends and family.

I’m so moved by this outpouring of love and the beautiful words by those that knew Sara. I’m still at a loss for words.
Sara was family to me.
I loved her.
I will always love her.
My path crossed with Sara very briefly, but in that moment I saw the intense brightness of her light. In reading these stories of shared experiences, it is clear she brought her intellect, true empathy and passion to every endeavor--or rather--every life opportunity.

My heart goes out to her beloved family and friends.

My partner Miri and I photogr…
2015, One of many "Women Grow" events... Portland, Oregon
My partner Miri and I photographed Sara many, many times. We also photograph tons live shows and musicians. Sara wasn't known for being musical, but I tell you, she was a ROCK STAR! She embodied the bold, expressive, awe-inspiring qualities of the biggest rock stars you could think of. She knew how to command a room, and definitely knew how to project her power ... Strangely shy in front of the camera at first, she'd always open up... and she learned to trust us whenever the camera was in her face... I mean, who could resist photographing this powerhouse human?

This world has lost one of it…
This world has lost one of its finest treasures. Sara was a brilliant and beautiful soul who played hard, worked tirelessly, and loved fiercely. There is a bond of solidarity among those whose lives were graced by Sara. The bittersweetness of knowing and loving such an incredible force of nature and the devastation of losing her.May the four winds blow you safely home, Sara. We will see you on the other side.
Sara captivated my attention …

Sara captivated my attention and admiration at this business building master class held at a Las Vegas mansion in 2019. This was the day after the National women of Cannabis Conference 2019 where we enjoyed Sara as a captivating speaker. RIP bright light, this world will miss you greatly.
Two years ago, when Sara was in Berlin, she came to visit me in Hanover for a day. I hadn’t seen her For years since she was a teenager as I had moved from Malta to Germany. Never could I have imagined that on that sunny summer day would be the last time I would see her. So, so sad and shocked to know she is not with us anymore. My condolences to Jon and kids. What a loss.
