Ruth's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Carrico, who departed this life on May 30, 2024. Born on August 10, 1942, to Harold and Edna Dame, Ruth lived a quiet life filled with kindness, generosity, and the warmth of family, always putting the needs of others before her own. Ruth's spirited personality and kind heart have left indelible marks on those who had the privilege to cross her life's path.
Ruth was born near & spent her very early years in Canterbury, CT. Her family then moved to Narragansett, RI, where her father started Calvary Bible Church. She grew up on the shores of Narragansett Bay and her first summer job was as a server at Aunt Carrie’s in Point Judith. It’s no wonder that she has a love for the ocean, clam chowder, clambakes & pretty much all seafood!
She was also an avid supporter of sports teams including her all-time favorite: the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed the Boston Celtics, San Francisco Giants, and Sacramento Kings. Not one to shy away from a good table game, she enjoyed playing cards, dominos and anything else her family would participate in. She held dear her hometown of Narragansett & the city of Newport, RI was one of her favorite vacation spots.
In her professional life, Ruth was passionate about serving seniors, helping them navigate the complex world of medical insurance supplements. Even until the end of her life, she was dedicated to her work and committed to making a difference in the lives of her clients. Her service to her community was not just a job, but a calling, and one of her greatest achievements.
Ruth's spirit of adventure and love for the outdoors was evident in her younger years, when she devoted her time to teaching children's ski programs in the Sierras and she enjoyed the thrill of sailing, even to the extent of participating with a team in sailboat racing events on San Francisco Bay.
Ruth leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her daughters, Renee Carrico and Rebecca Barlow; her son, Robert Carrico; her brother, Charles Dame; and her sister, Shirley Jackman. Ruth's legacy lives on in her lovely grandchildren - Tatiana Harris, Anastasia, Tynan, Olivia, Emmanuelle, Synclaire and Sullivan Barlow, Jennifer Robinson, Robert and William Carrico, Branden, Logan, and Cassidy Butler. She leaves behind 5 great grandchildren who she also adored - Oliver, Clive, Alina, Zachary & Aiden.
An informal memorial gathering or Celebration of Life for Ruth Carrico will take place on June 9, 2024, at 4:00 PM at 518 Fairview Dr. Placerville, CA. As we pay tribute to Ruth, we not only mourn her departure but celebrate the love, strength, and spirit she shared with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
In memory of Ruth, a fund has been set up named "Ruth Carrico Final Expenses". This can be found at https://everloved.com/life-of…. We express our deepest gratitude for your support during this difficult time. The family states that all funds will go to Miller Funeral Home. Anything beyond the immediate need will be donated on her behalf to The Ocean Clean Up (https://theoceancleanup.com/) You may also donate directly to the latter in her name instead.
Ruth's love, kindness, and vivacity will forever be etched in our hearts. We take solace in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with her parents, Harold and Edna Dame and her soulmate of a brother, Harold “Larry” Dame.
Ruth's legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
