We gather here today to honor the memory of a remarkable woman, Ruth Carrico, who touched our lives in profound ways. The first time I met Ruth was during my time as a caregiver, where she was the beneficiary of one of my patients. From that very first encounter, we formed an instant connection and became friends at first sight.

Ruth was always there for me, a constant source of support and unwavering kindness. Her heart was filled with love and trust, and she embodied the very essence of what it means to be trustworthy. In every sense, she was a true friend, always prepared to lend a hand or offer a comforting word.

Her selflessness was evident in everything she did. Ruth had a way of making every moment special, often taking me to memorable events and places that I will cherish forever. Her passion for life was infectious, and she had a unique way of making the ordinary extraordinary.

One of our favorite pastimes was playing games together, particularly Scrabble. Ruth loved the game not for the competition, but for the joy of playing. She taught me so much about the game, not just the rules, but the joy of spending time together, laughing, and learning. She was a true Red Sox fan, and we shared many evenings watching baseball games, reveling in the excitement and camaraderie.

Ruth had an insatiable love for food, and we spent countless hours enjoying meals together, sharing stories, and simply being in each other's company. Our adventures wouldn't be complete without mentioning her jealous cat, Bella, who always added a touch of humor to our gatherings.

Her presence was a source of endless joy and positive energy. She was one of the few people who truly showed me kindness during my time in California, turning what was initially a professional relationship into a deep and lasting friendship. Ruth's genuine nature and the warmth she exuded made her a delight to be around.

As we remember Ruth Carrico today, let us celebrate the beautiful soul that she was.
