Ella, Andrew, Max and family,

When I first met David’s family, I remember thinking how fortunate I was to be welcomed so lovingly by his family...and then in the months that followed, that circle of love and warmth expanded as I met you and Roman and your family. Roman always shared an abundance of love with those around him, and I’ll remember fondly how he would hold my face in his hands and have the greatest smile that would simply fill your heart.

Sending my love and condolences to you all. His memory will live on through the profound impacts he’s made on so many people who were lucky enough to know him.

Mamochka, Max, and Andrew,

One of my favorite relationships of all time is the one I had with Roman.

Like a 2nd father, we bonded over the hopefulness of human connection, but he selflessly offered so much depth, knowledge, and insight that I could never get enough. He uniquely could make the most complex mind-bending topics so engaging and fun. Always, ending our conversations with a mischievous smile and a hug that communicated, I am always here for you.

Papochka, we will all miss the tremendous impacts you make on our lives, but know that we're all so fortunate and better off due to the imprints you've already made. Thank you for helping guide me, and so many others, to be a better version of myself. The world needs more people like you.

This is one of the most difficult emails for me to write. When my parents told me the news about Roman, both Mark and I were crushed. He was such a wonderful person and we always had tremendous respect for both you and Roman. Рома и Эллочка – этот пример семьи, к которому стремились все мы. Такой любви, взаимонимания, уважения друг к другу на протяжение 56 лет я больше не встречал. Его близкие друзья еще по Киеву до 40 лет не могли устроить свою личную жизнь, потому что стремились к такому же. А такого практически не бывает. Такую семью встретишь 1 раз в 1000 лет. Рома был прекрасным отцом и дедом. На своем примере он воспитал в детях любовь к знаниям, труду и уважение к науке. Мы дружили с Ромой 58 лет с 1962 года. Многие совместные дни и годы, проведенные вместе на работе, в командировках, на отдыхе и на досуге, совместное написание книг и статей, позволяют мне заключить, что таких надежных, умных, квалифицированных, доброжелательных, бесконфликтных и искренних друзей редко встретишь. Всей своей жизнью он заслужил  любовь и уважение всех друзей и близких. Трудно очень представить, что его уже с нами нет. Вечная ему память. Пусть Земля ему будет пухом, и рай ему на небесах!
