March 28, 2 years since Roman’s passing …

Another year without you. I miss you every step, every moment, but life continues.

Many things happened this year, and more memories created.

The milestone of the year was Sasha graduating with the highest school awards and being accepted to McGill university. Knowing how important education was to you for your grand children, you will be very proud of her.

All of us went to Montreal to help Sasha and made this transition easier for her. Also, Lucas will be graduating this year, and has already applied to universities and is waiting for all his acceptances before he selects one.

Grand children are all growing. All major changes are coming from them. They also bring so much joy and happiness!

I spent a lot of time at the cottage last year. This place is always occupied by me. It makes me feel happy, as I’m surrounded with happy people. All of them are remembering you and very grateful to you for creating such a special community. We always feel your presence there, as so much of what we touched, was done with your hands. The Family is coming as usual, even children were staying over for some time and friends. Unfortunately, our friends not able to come as often as they used to. They are  all getting older and less mobile.

At Christmas time, I joined the family for ski trip in Quebec for a week and we had wonderful time.

After that, two months of winter where I escaped to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with Mina’s parents. Every morning I was walking on the beach, listening sound of the waves, and remembering how many miles we used to walk together on different beaches. I felt like you were walking with me! You were passionate about the ocean, waves, boats, and wind which was blowing right in your face when you were steering the boat. How many exiting boats trips did we had!

Now I see the importance to create special memories as we always did! I have many memories to share right now for every occasion.

The gravestone monument is finally ready, and it has been installed. We will unveil it later when the weather improves.

I missed you so much. Our adventures together, your enthusiasm, your wit, your smile and all those happy years we have been together.

Дорогая Эллочка!

Сегодня 12 октября 2022 года Роме исполнилось бы 83 года. В этот день всегда поздравляли его с днем ​​рождения, а теперь в этот день будем его вспоминать. Когда вспоминаем Рому - то всегда рядом с ним Элла. Они всю жизнь были рядом и дополняли друг друга, как две неразлучные половинки. Мы с Эллой учились вместе в группе в Киевском политехническом институте – КПИ. Рома приходил к Элле в институт и слушал с нами вместе лекцию. Так я увидел Рому дебюта. А потом... Эллочка доверила мне быть свидетельницей на их свадьбе, которая была 11 марта 1965 года. За все эти годы они отметили многократную годовщину заражения веществами с датами и названиями, причем очень простыми – ситцевой (1 год), бумажной (2 года),деревянной ( 5 лет) и до самых драгоценных – рубиновой (40 лет), сапфировой ( 45 лет), золотой ( 50 лет), изумрудной ( 55 лет) и в 2021-м году – 56-летие совместной жизни.

Дорогая Эллочка, я и все мои родные - Игорь, Лариса, Андрей всегда будем помнить Рому, как родного человека, близкого друга, который много добрых дел сделал для нашей семьи, выручал в самые трудные минуты. Рома- это пример любящего и заботливого мужа, отца, дедушки. Он - высокообразованный, интеллигентный человек, специалиста высокого класса в мире математики - кандидат наук. Он добился многого, осуществил все свои планы и мечты. Переехать с семьей в Канаду и основательно  утвердиться в другой стране - это равносильно только сильному человеку-такому, какой был Рома – трудолюбивый, целеустремленный. Ему непросто все давалось в жизни, но он самостоятельно преодолевал все возникающие трудности и решал все проблемы.                           Рома всегда будет с нами, в нашей памяти,

Today, March 28, one year ago Roman, my husband, left us and this world…but his presence still influences so many of the lives he touched.

For me, his presence is everywhere - wherever I go, whatever I touch, whatever I read or watch - I feel the desire to share my thoughts and discuss with him as I always have, and imagine what his reaction would be but…

He is not by my side anymore, I cannot feel support of his hand, I cannot lean on his shoulder. It seems like I lost half of myself. I miss you so much, my dear.

But life is going on…

I am trying to keep myself busy. I managed to make this year very productive, so time passed by very quickly. I am always making plans, learning to do everything by myself even traveling, and creating new memories. Of course, our family is extremely attentive and supportive.

We were at your grave site today. The family placed a lot of flowers and spent time remembering you. Everyone was expressing that they continue to feel of your presence, and they’re love.

You are always in our thoughts, in our hearts, and in our memories.

On March 11, 57 years ago, our Family was born . During all these years, Roman and I never missed celebrating this day!

My husband was very attentive and always managed to have a bouquet of fresh flowers for me in the morning. But not this year. So I put fresh flowers on his grave, with love and gratitude.

The Month of March and the beginning of spring is the perfect time for ski trips. We often celebrated this day on many famous ski resorts mostly in N. America like Aspen (CO) , Banff (AL), Whistler (BC), Mount Tremblant and our Blue Mountains (ON).

On our Milestone Anniversaries we were always planning something special and memorable. A brief recollection:

5 years - Ski trip to Carpathian Mountains (West Ukraine);

10 years - Georgia (USSR);

15 years - trip by car from Kiev to Leningrad, discovering Russian cities;

20 years - travel to Japan;

25 years - build new House (had a party with Friends);

30 years - Helicopter trip above Grand Canyon, including a landing with Champaign;

4O years - Cruise on Queen Marry 2 maiden voyage;

50 years - trip to Mexico, Playa del Carmen with our children and grandchildren, plus an amazing trip discovering Utah by car;

55 years - river cruise thru Europe.

So many wonderful memories, recorded in photos and movies. I have much to share, especially with my grandchildren .

Rest In Peace.

Because of recent events in Ukraine, decided to contact Roman and Alisa.  I was saddened to learn from his daughter-in-law, Victoria,  that he passed away last year.

I had the pleasure of working with him from 1980 to 1993, and attended a couple of get togethers hosted by Alisa and Roman.

A clear thinking scientist, a thorough gentleman, and an excellent host.  May his soul rest in peace!
