Rodney is always in my heart! Sweetest soul ❤️
Rodney will always be in my heart as I remember how tremendously gifted he was in music.  He could play any style of music from classical to jazz. His middle school choral teacher was so impressed with him that she actually paid ME to come to his school and give him extra lessons. What a great talent and person.  We will always cherish and remember you.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Rodney. I think it really captures his goofy personality, and how his laughter was always infectious.
Where do I even start . I first met Rodney at a field trip and didn’t have a clue that he would soon be like a big brother to me . I found out that we both took chorus , and when I tell you hanging out with him before performances were the only thing I really looked forward to in that class . Him and I had a bond so genuine and wholesome that you would think we were really siblings . I call him my brother because our friendship was like the relationship I have with my actual older brother and because I felt so comfortable around him so calling him a friend would be an understatement . The school that we went to had a lot of boys who wanted to be seen by everyone or who just followed what everybody else was doing but that wasn’t Rodney and I think that’s why we were so close because I was attracted to how unique he was . He was the sweetest boy if not person that I’ve ever met unless I told him about someone who was messing with me because he didn’t play when it came to that trust and believe . Rodney also uplifted me by reassuring my insecurities when I told him about them and had a smile so bright that it could literally make your day better when you seen it . All of the advice he gave, the incredible music he played on the piano , and the countless of times we laughed together will be cherished for as long as I live ❤️❤️❤️.

I first met Rodney when he was a baby. I was with my grandma Evelyn and aunt Lisa. Rodney was itty bitty and so adorable. I would say he never went through the “Terrible twos” phase. He didn’t cry much at all and loved spending time in everyone’s arms. He will always be part of the reason I love children so much.
I had the pleasure of meeting Rodney back in August as his ELA teacher at Carver EC. He was a brilliant and witty individual that shared many laughs with us in our advisement. He was a competitive soul that took pride in answering questions proudly when we played Trivia as a way to break the ice in virtual school. I only knew him a short time, but I will always remember how gentle his soul was. I cherish our last conversation where he exclaimed sincere appreciation for my efforts as his teacher. I'll hold that sweet message close to my heart and take comfort in knowing that I had moment to know him. He will be missed dearly.
Rodney was very funny, respectful, loving child. He and my 3 sons would perform through dance and music at Greater Smith church. He was always helping and teaching others. He was like my 4th son. He is truly missed and he will always have a special place in our hearts.
In response to "What did you learn from Rodney?"
I didn’t have the pleasure of teaching Rodney, but did have the pleasure of hearing him make music in the 6th grade. Along with a couple of his friends, he would come into my music classroom at lunch where he helped his friends practice and directed small music ensembles because he loved making music more than recess. It was a highlight of my day. Patience, talent and passion were some of his strengths. May his family find some comfort in these messages.
The world has lost a kind, intelligent, charismatic, and special individual.
I looked forward to Rodney's unique and contagious laughter and his sense of true inquiry at Paideia. Peace and strength to his family and all of the fortunate people who surrounded him.
The Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church - Kennesaw mourns the passing of Rodney Earl McBride, Jr. He was a joy to be around and a phenomenally anointed musician. Our prayers are with his family. May God’s grace sustain you as you go through this very trying time.
Rodney brought something special to Paideia during his years there. He had a magnetic smile and spirit that drew teachers and fellow students to him. We feel lucky to have crossed his path during those years and share in the remembrances of friends and family as they celebrate all of his incredible talents and many gifts. Rodney, you were admired and loved by so many who will not let you be forgotten.
So sorry for your profound loss. My daughter, Annie Schwartz, was never in class with Rodney, but his passing leaves a hole in the Paideia community. Praying that you are surrounded by the comfort of family and friends. May his memory always be a blessing.

Sending so much love and light to all that were lucky enough to have known Rodney. He was such a fun-loving and radiant kid. I always could count on a funny little story from Rodney when I would pick up my son from Paideia aftercare. His magnetic smile and raspy voice always caught my attention and made us all pause. To listen. To laugh. To smile. To feel a bit lighter. Love to Rodney's Mom & Dad and his entire family.
