I met Robin through her brother Scott. I wanted to meet her because she was so accomplished, inventive and blazing new paths with her work and her leadership.
She made time for us to meet up in Palo Alto, share some food and what she was doing with books 📚 around the world. We had a great talk and her thought and energy resonate with me today.
I am very sad to hear she passed away. I know her vital energy is with us, just in a different way.
Much love to the Seaman Family.

I was so sorry to read about Robin Seaman passing away. How sad. Too young and vital. I knew Annette and Robert Seaman when they lived in the little house behind Cowper Court. My parents, The Christensen's, were their landlords and I was going to Paly High School. Mr. Seaman worked at the radio station next to the President Hotel. I can still see him there talking into the big microphone. Annette and I became reacquainted MANY years later and sent

Christmas cards for some time. We would run into each other now and then. This was after I was married and had kids of my own. I could alway spot Annette because she was so pretty and had beautiful blue eyes. She always seemed to remember me, too. My deepest sympathy to you Scott and your family.
I worked with Robin at IDG Books in the 90s, and again at Benetech for 4 years. She was always full of energy, upbeat, outgoing - I was lucky to know and work with her. It's obvious from the outpouring of affection and memories here that she touched many lives. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the memorial service, but I send love and best wishes to her family and friends. May you find comfort and strength in your memories.
Everybody loved Robin.

We all want to be that person, right? The person everybody loves?

Robin's secret: she didn't have to try. She loved everybody. (Except those she didn't.)

I've loved my wife for five decades, and I love her today to distraction, but--wait, where was I going with that? [ ;) a little joke Robin would have loved]--oh yeah, Robin.

Like so many of us, I loved Robin. I have her lovely moon face in my heart. I crank her laugh up whenever I need it.

Bye, Robin. Stay with me.
Well, it was a pretty good day until I heard this sad, tragic and devastating news. It is difficult to even get my head around this.

Robin radiated her unique beacon of love and positivism that lifted everyone around her. That thousand-watt smile, infectious laugh and loads of caring is one of the many things we will all miss.

What Robin accomplished professionally helped so many thousands and will certainly endure for decades to come.

Another and perhaps greater accomplishment was the personal effect she had on everyone she touched.

The instant you met her, she enveloped you with her special aura of sincere love and friendship...leaving you with the feeling that she was your new BFF.

That feeling never faded...

Nor will the memory of Robin, a special soul who impacted so many of us...

We will all miss her terribly.

Ever since hearing about Robin’s passing, every morning when I open my garage door, I am overcome by sadness. Because I know I will no longer run into Robin and chat with her on the private drive we share. Not too long ago she helped jump start my husband’s car (my car is a hybrid, cannot jump start other cars). Many years ago, we neighbors helped locate the source of non-stop beeping sound. It turned out to be a discarded old fire detecting alarm at Robin’s garbage bin. :) :):) All these and many other memorable moments! Oh, I really miss you, Robin.
It's a hoot!

How we will miss Robin! It’s still so surreal. With her sophisticated elegance, cheeky wit and the voice of a smooth broadcaster, Robin was a kindred spirit and a sheer delight to be around. I’m so grateful we met thru her wonderful family, our Seaman neighbors.
It brought joy to see how much she adored her “little” brother Scotty, found a sister in Christina and lovingly doted upon her niece Laura and nephew Brandon. Gone much too soon, Robin will be deeply missed.
Many of us at CAST worked with Robin as we've partnered with Benetech over the past decade-plus. Robin was a wonderfully upbeat person and was always, always helpful and collaborative. She was a true champion of change on behalf of people with disabilities. We will miss her both personally and professionally. Our deepest sympathies go to her family, friends, and to all her colleagues at Benetech.
Scott and Seaman family - Dear Robin and I went all thru school together as she lived on Carmel Avenue and I on Carmel Court. So many memories of events together, birthday parties in the 2 story yellow house and laughs, oh so many laughs. My heart really broke on receiving the news of Robin's passing. My thoughts and prayers will be with all those attending the celebration of Robin's extraordinary life, as I live out of the area and no longer drive. God rest your gentle soul, my dear, dear friend of so many years.
Robin was a close friend and colleague. We have worked together for several years and she always brought joy into our pursuits. I will miss her deeply.
I am very sad.
Robin was one of the first person involved in accessibility I met when I start working in the field. She was always smiling and nice, but also very professional. I’ve learned a lot from her, she was open, collaborative and helpful. I will miss her and it will seem to me very strange not to meet her in meeting and conference focused on accessibility.

A big hug to all her friends

Our Robin

Our Robin would work a room with poise and grace
Searching, scouring the crowd for a familiar face.

Our Robin may have not been all that technical
But with Carlos’s help she made not a spectacle.

Our Robin was always dressed to impress
Matching sweaters and scarves but never a dress.

Our Robin knew all the publishers and could cite them by name
Wiley, Cengage, McGraw, Macmillan to GCA they all came.

Our Robin left us all way too soon
We will miss you deeply goodnight moon.

-Charles ‘Carlos’ LaPierre

Dear family and friends of Robin Seaman - I have no particular "story" to tell at this time, because Robin is intertwined in everything about my life, throughout the day. We did have great adventures together, such as our 1970 trek from Japan through the Soviet Union (including Central Asia) and throughout Eastern and Western Europe. But today it is the everyday that keeps hitting me with fresh grief - the wasabi almonds in my closet - I had these for the first time at her house last November; the way I cook cauliflower, which I learned from her; the audiobook I'm listening to - she first got me started on these during a 1999 visit; the turban I put on my wet hair after showering (she told me about these), etc. There is no end to it and I can provide little condolence regarding the catastrophic loss of our sweetheart. I can only hope that one day memories - and everyday reminders - will be a source of comfort and joy as I contemplate the countless ways in which she enriched my life.

Robin in action at a global disability conference, smiling her warm, inviting smile. She was a marvel at events, mingling grace, planning, and pure speed.
I am stunned and so very saddened. I will write more in a card to you. In memory of your mom, I should type it--the irony of which would not be lost on Robin either.
My heart sank when I saw the notice. Just like her mother Annette, Robin was a lady through and through. True class and a genuine soul. I'll keep an extra book on the shelf just for you.
My heart breaks for the loss of such a wonderful woman. Robin was so important in my life, from the time we were roommates at Cal to the last late-night phone call. There is simply no way to fill such a void.
My love and condolences to her special family. Rest in peace my darling.

Dear Entire Seaman Family,

My most sincere condolences to you all. I truly enjoyed working with Robin for a number of years at Gemstar Ebook Group after our respective ebook start-ups -- Rocket eBook and Softbook Press -- were simultaneously acquired and merged into a consolidated into a single enterprise. Coincidentally, Robin and I also shared a love of Russia and Russian having also shared the common experience of having lived and worked there years before. May she rest in peace.
Dear Scott and the entire Seaman family - I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Robin. We had a few nice coffees get together after your sweet mother passed away and Robin reminded me so much of Annette. We talked about how she loved wearing your moms costume jewelry and all the faux-pearl necklaces each of our mothers had. We laughed a lot together and I was so impressed with how well educated Robin was, the sparkle in her eyes, and her wit and humor. I am so sad for all of you. God bless you. Gone but never forgotten, just like your mother, whose magnetic pin cushion I was using two days ago, as well as an article she had clipped from an old newspaper. You are in my prayers.
