Randall's obituary
Randall Joseph Toye, 68, of Dallas, TX, passed away on April 28, 2023 after a long battle with amyloidosis, officially diagnosed in 2019.
Randall was born on March 18, 1955 to Vance and Norma Toye in Flint, Michigan. After graduating from Flint Central High School in 1973, he attended Harding College in Searcy, AR where he met his wife, Peggy Lee from Gretna, Louisiana. Randall and Peggy married in 1974 and had two children: Joe, born in 1977, and Lisa in 1980.
Randall graduated from the Preston Road School of Preaching in 1986 and eventually earned a Master’s and Doctorate degree in Theology. Randall began preaching part-time in churches of Christ in 1986. While preaching, he and his wife Peggy worked in children’s homes as house parents in Paragould, Arkansas and Bowling Green, Kentucky, fostering up to six kids at a time while raising their own children. After ten years of dedicated service in children’s homes, Randall served as the pulpit minister for the Van Dyke church of Christ in Warren, Michigan, followed by the Maul Road church of Christ in Camden, Arkansas. Due to declining health, he retired from full-time ministry in 2008.
Randall’s hobbies included playing guitar; singing; building models of trains, aircraft and cars; playing cards; watching old Western and War movies; and Bible study. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially University of Michigan football and Detroit Tigers baseball. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports and lead in worship.
Randall was preceded in death by parents Vance and Norma Toye, brother Scott Toye, brother-in-law Roger Lee, and three younger siblings who died at birth. He is survived by wife Peggy Toye; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Kelly Toye; daughter Lisa Kelly; grandchildren Autumn and Ethan Kelly and Caleb, Levi, Josiah and Andrew Toye; sister Carol Lee; brothers Wayne (and Sue) Toye, Jason (and Rhonda) Toye, Rick Toye, Shannon (and Kim) Toye; brother-in-law and sister-in law Wayne and Dixie Moseley; and many other nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at New York Avenue Church of Christ on Saturday, May 6 at 2pm, 2023. Livestream will be available via YouTube on New York Ave Church of Christ channel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brown Trail School of Preaching or Children’s Home, Inc. in Paragould, Ar.
