Hi everyone. The outpouring of love and admiration for Norman, our Dad, has been overwhelming. I thought I would share this note from another admirer who perfectly encapsulates Dad and what made him so special for so long:

There was something very special about your dad. He had this twinkle--this energy about him. Was it passion for his work? Enjoyment of customers? Love of his wife? His boys and their families? The right biology? A curious mind? A combination of these things and much more, I suspect. With my life now consumed with work around our aging population, I’ve gotten to know a whole lot more about the health, wellness, and sense of purpose of older people. I can confirm that Norman was an example--one of the success stories. If we could bottle whatever it was, we’d all be better off. You were lucky to have him, and he was lucky to have you too…

Jon, Jeffrey and Barry,

I am so sorry to hear about your father. From the summers at camp in the Poconos to helping me pick the beautiful gifts for my family, it has always been with smiles and warmth as I strolled into 47th street. Thank you for those memories and my family and I hope all the memories of your Dad are full of that warmth and love.

I met Norman through my husband Joel who is very close to him and his family. We were shopping for my engagement ring. I remember when I first met him he had big smile and I felt his warmth Every time I saw him from then on out it was always that way. Normal was just that person who exuded warmth, love and kindness. I just found him to be so gentle and caring. Whenever I went to 47th street he was always standing in the same corner spot : "Norman's Corner" would be a good name. It was so sweet to always see him there and clearly see how much he loved being there. He was just such a special man. He will be very missed by all. I feel very blessed and grateful to have met him. My condolences go out to the entire Landsberg family and to all of the those who Norman touched.
Loved one of my memories of my day at Norman’s on 47Th street. I came in with a large vintage Tiffany heart with ruby cabachon stones. He took out a box of findings to find the appropriate bale. He picked the perfect match for it. A small sale, but he spent as much time with me as if I was buying a major piece. He was a dear man, and still was joyful about working at 90! His family carries on for him, and will cherish their memories of a life well- lived.

Jeff, Barry, and Jon I am so sorry for your loss. Both Norman and Carol always made me feel like I was part of the family. Whether spending time with you over the high holidays after my parents moved, or fishing for blue fish on his boat. He will be missed.

Dan & I first met Norman just about 40 years ago. We were getting married, and needed wedding bands. Our history together actually goes back even more than 40 years, though. My late aunt (Evelyn Breiner) went to college with Norman, and she also became a very good customer. My late mother (Edith Stiner) had gotten her engagement ring and diamond wedding band from Norman. This is how we came to Norman Landsberg Creative Jewelers.
We are sending our condolences to the Landsberg Family. Norman will be missed.

Jonathan and Jeff- So very sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I have been a customer for many years and it was always a pleasure to be greeted by him when I came into your booth. Your dad was always there with a big smile and made each customer feel very special in his presence. He was truly a gentleman. He will be missed.
My condolences to the Landsberg Family.
My condolences to The Landsberg Family. Jeffrey and Jonathan, you both I know and remember well. If and when in midtown, I would always stop and see your Dad and say hello, between customers... Always had a minute or so to say hello, and ask how my Mom and Dad were. He always had a smile, and nice regards to pass along. All three of you, carry him everyday, always. He and Your Mother, I'm sure were both special people, they are together now. Peace to you all...
Norman, with a twinkle in his eye and forever a smile on his face, always made us feel special in his presence. He had a gift for connecting with people and making them feel good -- something that sounds so simple, but is so profound and rare. He leaves an amazing legacy. We will miss him greatly and will always remember him very fondly. Sending all our love to the Landsberg family.

All of Barry's friends made sure not to mess with the stones around the driveway, we knew Norman wouldn't appreciate that. A great family man, he'll be missed.
The Getzoff family of Long Beach fondly remembers Norman as a friend and fellow boater, family jeweler and neighbor.
Our sympathies to all the Landsberg family. You're in our thoughts.
Norman was so warm and kind. A special character. A great life. When we were in NY, Susie and I always enjoyed dropping by to see him on 47th Street--there was always a hug and a story. He'll be missed by many people and in many ways. They just don't make them like Norman any more...
We wish we could have known Norman better but it is clear how his kindness, drive and generosity has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. All these gifts will continue to sparkle throughout the generations of Landsbergs.
Dear Landsberg Family:

In recent years when I would see Norman at the booth, I always thought how blessed you were to still have him by your side and how blessed he was to be surrounded by all of you. Please know that you are in my thoughts and good wishes.

Best,
Stacy Charney
