It is with a sense of deep loss an an aching void that I write this tribute on the passing of my beloved pastor, spiritual advisor, big brother, friend and confidant.
Pastor Weir was an intellectual and deeply philosophical man of God. Though soft spoken, his sermons and presentations echoed voluminously across the many platforms on which he stood. His breath of thoughts left his hearers in deep contemplation and a sense of belief in what he taught.
Pastor Weir was a preacher/teacher who went deep below the surface, thoroughly revealing the gold mine God has for man, embedded beneath the sand. By example, he taught that life is a continuously learning experience that challenges even the greatest spiritual teachers. This was evident in his ferocious reading and a willingness to share his knowledge with anyone who was willing to have a discussion on a specific topic. He believed that the essence of human progress, within or outside the church, lies in the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
His calm and gentle attitude in addressing he most challenging problems, left one mystified in the way he sought to alleviate the situation. His kindness was admirable, it knew no bounds, he was simply a humanitarian.
He did not consider himself so heavenly that he had no earthly use, in light moments of playing board games such as Scrabble or Chinese Checkers, the new comer to the game had to learn patience and tact as pastor took his own time in making his move,
As I bid farewell to Pastor Weir, I will always cherish the love, the laughter and the fond memories he brought to my life, the challenges he helped me overcome, and the advices that he gave have helped to guide me through life. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit will forever echo in my heart, reminding me to cherish each moment of our friendship and to hold dearly the spiritual legacy he has left me.
My sincere condolences to B, Mercy, Marilyn and Marchelle. Pr. Weir has run the race, he has finished the course and has died with the hope of seeing his Lord face to face. The patriarch is resting. Let us endeavor to meet him in the Resurrection.
