MEG…Lover of Literature! Meg could always be found with a book. She majored in literature at Miami University and never stopped learning, laughing, and experiencing life through books ! This love is one that she has always shared with others! I cannot count how many times I was on the receiving end of this sharing! She told me about many wonderful books! It was Meg who taught me to hide under the covers with a flashlight and a good book past our bedtime!

MEG…Lover of Winter! Winter sports were another of Meg and Rich’s joys that were shared with others. Meg taught me how to cross-country ski on a nearby golf course one winter and I was hooked, especially when she taught me how to get up when I fell - just as she did when we were young. So many wonderful memories of Bill and me cross-country skiing in Vermont!, Later…snowshoeing! What a joy to do these and go beyond my previous winter sport - sitting on the couch under a blanket!

MEG…Entertainer of the Years! Family was another of Meg’s biggest joys! I cannot count the number of family reunions were held at their house in Wycoff! So many wonderful people! Everyone was included! In-laws and their in-laws So. many wonderful people! Such joy she and Rich gave to others! Meg decided that there was another way for families to reunite! Meg wrote a family newsletter in the early days of home computers (leave it to Meg to get on that wonderful ‘new thing”!) Christmas was always magical at the Dougher home!
In addition, Meg and Rich found joy in sharing their home - yearly Derby Day parties, and Halloween haunted house that would knock your socks off!

MEG…Music Aficionado! Her lifelong love of all kinds of music was contagious! She had me jumping to Bill Halley and the Comets and Elvis.Bill and I went to Carnegie Hall for their jazz series. For my birthday she once took me to Lincoln Center to see Carmen! Going to concerts at West Point on Sundays in the summer with Meg and Rich were awesome. They taught us how to do it right…a table with a tablecloth, flowers in a vase, wine in plastic wine glasses, appetizers as well as main courses!

MEG…Everyone’s Inspiration! She found joy in so many things, the love of nature was amazing! Hiking in the woods everywhere, especially at Harriman State Park and in Vermont along their thirty acres which abutted a Vermont state park. They shared and fostered that love with Beth, our parents, and me. Walking in the woods is one of my two great joys! My sons also are huge hikers now because of them! Birdwatching, one of huge joys in life was shared with our family, and the students at Coolidge elementary school, where she began a birding class and now there are so many birdwatchers in New Jersey and beyond because of her! I remember so fondly going to the Celery Farm with her where she shared this joy with me.

MEG…My One Personal Hero! Oh, how do I begin to write a tribute to, you, my other half? About fifteen years ago Meg told me that I was her "other half"…something that I too had always felt so strongly! Meg was the best sister that anyone could ever wish for. Since we were little she was always my hero, protector and champion: picking me up and comforting me when I fell, both as a child and emotionally in later years. Whenever I have doubted myself, she was there for me, encouraging and supporting and always knowing what to say to help me, as well as knowing when to be quiet and give a big hug, as she did when we were young. My own personal hero! She loves me and I love her.

Meg and I were college roommates at Miami University and neighbors in Dayton, Ohio. We were in each other’s weddings and remained close friends even though distance separated us. When we were together, it was always an adventure. Meg, you will alway have a spot in my heart.

I have such fond memories of your mom! I was a Coolidge student (6th grade class of 1991!)and I absolutely adored her. She helped foster my love of reading and libraries and I remember her reading stories to us while we sat on the floor with our legs crossed, totally enthralled. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention her absolutely epic Halloween decorations. She used to open your house to everyone on Halloween, and was simply delightful as we all wandered around. I've told my own children about how amazing her "haunted house" was, how incredible the decorations were, and then( I believe- it's been around 35 years!) there was always apple cider at the end, and parents chatting with your mom and dad. I'm actually a school librarian myself now and I always think of your mom and smile. Sending you tons of love and hugs. Your mom had an impact on so many of us, and I've thought of her often over the years.
