Markus was genuinely kind, charismatic, a gentle soul, a class act. Even though we never worked alongside one another, a casual encounter in the elevator would elicit a greeting and a spontaneous smile. He was respected as a colleague and we are grateful for having crossed paths with him. 

Farewell, Markus, may your journey be as gentle as you are!
