Maria Lauren Romano, age 57, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Cumming, Ga. Maria was born and raised in Carteret, New Jersey. She attended Carteret High School (‘79). Maria worked as a paralegal in NYC for many years. Maria moved to Georgia in 1996 and raised her two children; Caitlyn Slack (28), and Stephen Slack (25). After both children attended college, Maria moved back to New Jersey and married her grade school sweetheart, Nicholas Romano. After Nicholas Romano's death in 2017, Maria returned to Georgia to be closer to her children.

Maria is survived by her two children; Caitlyn Slack and Stephen Slack, brother; James McAliece, and numerous family, friends, and loved ones.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service that will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 1 pm, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Macon, Ga located at 830 Poplar St., Macon, Ga. Reception to follow in the downstairs Social Hall.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 29, 2019 at the Carteret Elk's Lodge from 1 to 5 pm located at 233 Roosevelt Ave., Carteret, New Jersey.
