Dear Caitlyn, Steven, Jimmy and Family,

I am so happy that you are celebrating Maria's life! I believe that is exactly what she would have wanted....joyous, happy times filled with memories and laughter, telling stories of this great lady. My regrets for not being able to attend and share with you. Please enjoy your time together with friends; smile and hold each other. Know that she is but a whisper away, always with us.

Love - Billy Dewitz
My heartfelt sympathies go out to Maria’s children Caitlyn and Stephen, her brother Jimmy and extended family and friends. She was probably one of the strongest women I known. I was Maria’s parents neighbor when I moved into Carteret. We had many found memories together. I was there when her parents unfortunately passed on. She then lived in her house and started her family. The neighborhood was filled with nice people who shared memories and did things for each other. No matter what was going on, Maria always had a beautiful smile on her face. We kept in touch when she moved to Georgia and she would always call or visit when she came back up. She was a very sweet, compassionate person. May she RIP.

She was quite a warrior - she fought a good fight! May you Rest In Peace Maria! My thoughts and prayers for your precious loved ones!
My deepest sympathies to Jimmy, Caitlyn, Stephen and the rest of Maria's family. Maria wasn't just a great neighbor but a great friend who knew me since birth(52 years). She truly was a amazing, friend, mother and woman. She would do anything for you and not ask for anything in return. She loved life, her children, family and friends. I am so honored and blessed to have been a part of her circle and I know that she's in Heaven with her loving parents and the love of her life. She truly was a Angel here on Earth and was so loved and will be greatly missed. I love you, Maria thank-you for everything you've done for me over the years and I pray that I gave you some laughter, comfort and true friendship that you've given me over my lifetime. xoxo

Caitlyn, Stephen, Jimmy & all family & friends, my most deepest heartfelt sympathies. Maria was literally my 1st friend, we met when I moved in next door, we were both 3 yrs old. We went to school together, enjoyed all the seasons of the year, more so winter & my Dad would take myself, Maria, Jimmy & my sister Donna on the sled all around Parkview & Shorecrest neighborhoods. Summers in the pool, I would go with her family to the lake/pool (I can't remember where), Spring time showing off our Easter outfits, fall jumping in leaves her Dad & my Dad would pile up for us to play in. As years went on even though we made new friendships we were close till I moved to a different town but would see each other once in a while & it would be as if we haven't skipped a day. We lost touch when she married & I moved back into Carteret & had my own family. We found each other on FB & caught up & would keep in touch, & by phone. I was so excited when she moved back to NJ, so happy I got to see her the time she was here. Myself & my sister had dinner with her before she moved back to GA, it was a bitter sweet dinner, sad to see her leave, but happy for her that she was going back to be close with Caitlyn & Stephen. When she went back she was busy & we would see each other's postings, comment, there was a few calls, but seeing her beautiful smile in her pics I knew she was happy in GA that was all that mattered. She said a few times how tired she was, she felt it wasn't normal, but she said she would go & get checked out. I was so shocked when she said she had leukemia. She went so fast, but I am trying not to dwell on her illness, I choose to remember the vibrant, smiling, always trying to cheer you up even if she herself was "down". Her faith was strong, she was loved by so many because she was a true beautiful soul, with a loving heart. I was just thinking how she would call me the "baby" of our group because her Birthday in November 9th, and mine is December 31st, I will miss her saying that with that giggle after it, I will cherish that as I do the memory we both shared of the 1st day we met & remembered so clearly at age 3. Rest In Paradise my dearest & "oldest" friend, till we meet again you will remain in my thoughts & heart.
My Deepest Condolences and Sympathies to the family. Maria was an amazing woman and will be missed
