I am very sad to hear that he has passed away. He was a great man. I was one of his students. He always took the time to ask me how I was doing. He will live in my memory forever. I know that he made an impact in all the life’s he came across. My prayers are with his family.

My deepest sympathies. I always enjoyed Lou's visits at Lucy and Lou Brestel's home on Johnson Lake, Nebraska.  May you hold sweet memories always.

Lou truly cared about his students. He would take the time to visit their other teachers to see how they were getting on and offer any additional help they may need. Very special teacher.

Lou's passion in life was to give to others, to reach out to include people and make them feel worthy and important.  Throughout his years (all 19 of them!) as the founder and leader of our scholarship fund, he worked tirelessly for the benefit of our recipients - raising money so that more kids had the opportunity to get a college or technical school degree.

As a teacher and coach, he knew how important it was for everyone to do their best, to feel included and be given the opportunity to participate.  This was true for the kids in both California and Washington, and he worked hard for all of them!

I've known Lou since Kindergarten, and you couldn't ask for a crazier, more fun-loving, full of the dickens, sincere, full of good intentions, humble friend in the world.  We're going to miss you, dear friend.

You gave it your all.

Coach and his wrestlers Frank Zaragoza and Ron Lopez: Class of 1987
I took my time finishing college, making a few mistakes along the way.  7 years after I left Schurr High School, I looked out in the crowd at my graduation, and there was Coach Lawrence.   When I found him after the ceremony, he said he was in the area so he thought he would stop by.  A big man, with an even bigger heart.  He blessed so many of us and will be missed.
