I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Larry.   I'll always remember his good nature, fun spirit and his always-at-the-ready smile.  My deepest condolences to his beautiful family, Michael, and all of the extended Harper family.    -Cynthia Carson
Laurie was a unique person who possessed charm, charisma, athletic talent, handsome looks and a good soul.  In high school, Laurie always made me laugh and if I was having a not so good day, my interaction with Laurie would change my outlook on that day.  He possessed that special quality to see the good in everyone.  News of Laurie's passing was a stunner because I thought he was invincible but the Good Lord called for Laurie and Heaven is even better because of Laurie Harper's presence.  We will all miss you Laurie but one day we will again be together and continue our SHS Class of 77 reunion!  Rest In Peace Brother.
I send my Sympathy and Love to Larry’s Family. We were classmates. Several years ago , He was in Statesville. We were at the same Restaurant, eating breakfast. He looked extremely well. We Laughed and Talked. I Will Miss His Presence here on earth.

Sending my sincere condolences to the Harper family.  Please know Harp always talked about each of you and how proud he was of his family.  Message from a friend in Memphis emailing from Germany.  Sorry for your loss.

Warm Regards,

Reginald King

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Harper family during this difficult time.

From middle school throughout our high school years Laurie,  was like a brother, sharing his lunch, assisting with class assignments, and making sure I  had adequate transportation home after each football game. It seems like only yesterday.

Larry, was a very humble giant! Always pleasant, always generous, and he was always kind.

So surreal, He will be missed

I'm truly sorry  to hear about Larry Passing. My thought and prayers goes out to you all. We were 1977 graduates at SHS. He will be truly missed.

My deepest condolences to the Harper Family. Larry was my high school friend and classmate.  I remember Larry running that football as I was on the sidelines cheering him on because I was a cheerleader. I am grateful that I had an opportunity to see him at our last class reunion. May God continue you all day by day as you go through the new normal of not physically having Larry on this earth. Continue to hold on to the great memories.🙏🏽❤️
Sending my deepest condolences to Michael and  the family! A really special guy and lots of fun during our Statesville high school years. And good memories growing up at Calvary Presbyterian Church .. Rest in peace Larry!🙏🏽

Prayers and condolences for the Harper family. Larry and I grew up in the same community and were neighbors. We attended Calvary Presbyterian Church.

I am so sorry to   hear of Laurie's passing.  He was my classmate and we attended Calvary United Presbyterian Church as children.  He was a quiet guy, but he was fun to be around.  I never heard him say a bad word about anyone.  The class of '77 will miss his presence at our reunions.  I am praying for his family and brother, Michael. May God wrap his arms around you and comfort you all.

Dear Cuzn, There will never be another man like you....so sweet and dynamic. We are blessed with such great men in our fam....it's so hard to believe that I won't hear your laughter and smell those fragrant "stogies". It's  just hard....you mean so much. And now I'm sad again. Be at peace & watch over us. God bless you HOO-RAH! Love, Delvi

My fellow Leo, Big Cuz Chip, was one you just had to be around if he was close by, whether in town or the next room. You would hear some good stories and have great laughs. His larger than life persona was a magnet that pulled you in.

Cuz, you know you were loved, now you know what it means to be truly missed. 😘
