When Joshua became my step son he welcomed me into his family with open arms and open love. He was a wonderful presence in my life and I enjoyed our talks and texts that we shared. He lived his life on his terms and enjoyed it to every moment. I will miss his smile, laughter and yes his dimples. Thank you Josh for becoming part of my family. I love you💜

Josh and the girls at a hockey game

My condolences to Josh's family. I first met Josh when I moved into the Vela community with my girlfriend and we have been neighbors for several years. We would often hang out near the Vela pool, grill out and chat about anything from sports to business endeavors. I will never forget the day he taught me his secret to cooking some really good chicken drumsticks smothered in carribean jerk sauce that I still make to this day. I will never forget how generous he was and he was a prime example of how to create a community.

Until we meet again buddy.

Michael A.

My condolences to Josh's family. I first met Josh when I moved into the Vela.  He made me feel right at home right away and introduced me to every person in the community.  We quickly became great friends and spent many nights cooking food and drinking beer in the mansion at Vela. The more I got to know about josh the more I liked him. He had an infectious smile and laugh that just brought people together. He taught me what it means to be a good friend because of his loyalty and generosity.  He put everyone else’s needs in front of his own and would  go out of his way to help anyone at any time. I truly believe I’m a better person because of how much I learned from Josh.  I will miss him so much.  Rest in peace pal.

I learned the value of friendship and how to be a better friend. Josh was a great friend. He always stayed in touch and had a very peaceful nature. I never saw him argue or fight with anyone.
In response to "What did you learn from Josh?"

Josh knew how to live life. I can confidently say that I would not have nearly as many friends at Vela if Josh was not a larger than life gregarious and friendly constant at the pool.  Solitary and meek I relegated myself to a pool corner as two young ladies entered the pool and started chatting amongst themselves.  Josh, always the friendly provocateur loudly said if we knew each other and said to introduce ourselves. Cringing, I went along with his ploy and and even attended a lunch courtesy of big Josh.  I can now proudly call Becca and Hannah two of my closer friends at Vela and have Josh to thank for that. The fact that I had far too much to drink and proceeded to make a fool out of myself at the restaurant is something Josh always reminded me of and always brought a smile to both our faces.  I likened Josh to the unofficial mayor of the Vela pool, and the nicest bartender ever, his grapefruit vodkas poolside always were extra strong.  Every time I go to the pool it won’t be the same without Josh’s presence.

My condolences to the family. I will miss josh a lot he was the first person I met when I moved to vela and got to become great friends I got to share a lot of memories and spend time with him I will truly miss him i am very sorry for the loss rest in peace buddy.

I was crushed to hear one of my good friends had passed, Josh will truly be missed and remembered. We had a lot of good memories together at the Vela apartments, a lot of drinking by the pool and enjoying the company of other good friends. I'm glad I met this man, and was able to call him my friend. He is someone I enjoyed being around and hanging out with.

Rest in peace my friend, I will remember you always.
