I've spent a lot of time these past few days reading a lot of my old emails with Jon. Conversations often fell back to how terrible Missouri is. Found a quintessential quote from him in one of them, in reference to an article Marcus Williamson had shared - "I liked when the guy was complaining that the name 'Jayhawk' was offensive to missouri residents. Good. It's supposed to be."

Reading through all the amazing postcards Jon sent Emily, and it knocked a memory loose. I cannot recall when but probably right after Prague, one late night Jon and I spent hours discussing the defenestrations of Prague, which eventually devolved into who we would happily defenestrate.  I loved that his enthusiasm for knowledge, especially esoteric history, led me to research those little time periods more. It also solidified defenestration as my favorite word ever.
