John was both colleague and friend .  His attention to even minute details was symbolic of his dedication to every project he worked.   In his work, he made us successful...but in his friendship, he made us better.   I am grateful to have been in his company for so many years.

My favorite memory ever of John is when I asked him, "As a scientist, can you please share with me how to get mustard out of a t-shirt?" And to this he said, "Yes, throw it in the trash." It was hilarious and accurate and I loved every moment I got to chat with him SO very much :) He will be forever loved and missed by so many.

I really enjoyed working with John. The work we did was important/critical to JPL, NASA, and the world, but John was always grounded, focused, constructive, and an excellent team player. Most importantly, he cared about people. You could count on him to be there, no matter the situation or circumstances. I will miss you.

John Kennedy was a great human to know.  He was kind and funny.  Made you feel good to be around him. I remember once when we were on project together he said Lack you need to download this game. It's not really a game but a music maker called Bebot.  I did and it was fun to play with.  At the time I was single and had no children of my own.  Only recently I had the opportunity to show my own kids how to use it and have fun like John showed me.  To think that his kind gesture, way back then, carried onto a new generation of my own children just shows how profoundly he affected the lives of his friends.  John you will be missed.  My thoughts go out to all of you.

John was wonderful at ensuring hardware was built safely, would function correctly, and was properly documented.  He was always watchful and insisted on following a safe path.  What made his contribution especially valuable was that he understood the underlying principles of the JPL guidelines and found acceptable solutions without blindly following rigid steps.  He was always extremely helpful.

He shared his knowledge and helped anyone who would ask.  Many of us depended on him to guide us through difficult situations. Many times as I was discussing how to resolve a problem, I would hear "Ask John Kennedy".  I will miss him so very much.  What a wonderful person he was.

It was such a pleasure to work with John over the years - he was kind, funny, smart and hard working. He will be missed by all who knew him.
