We all miss you so much, Dad. After all this time, I still feel you with me every day. Every time I see a sports car I imagine how you’d geek out. Every silly movie scene, I hear your dry laugh and see your larger-than-life grin. Every time I have a tricky mechanical problem to solve, I come up with solutions that feel as if they’re sent to me from you. I’m so grateful for everything you taught me and continue to teach me. ♥️ I love you.

Hi, I don't have a story about John's Birthday but I do know he loved cake and I can picture him eating a big piece of cake, with a smile and a laugh. Thinking of John today and his family. May your day be filled with lots of good memories of John. Love and miss him dearly. Sean

I found this song to be appropriate for both my father and brother.
Do both of them a favor, and enjoy every moment (and sandwich) while you can.

“Time is Tight” was one of John’s favorites. I recently found this; enjoy it, brother.

Words don't adequately express our heartbreak. John was a wonderful friend. His laughter and joy were contagious. It was great fun whenever we got together. Coffee, movies, cars, animals; We could talk about everything. Getting to know Joanne, Jennifer,Julia and Don has been such a gift. The love continues always!

Our hearts break for your loss and we offer our sincere condolence. I know life will never be the same without John. I hope and pray that the precious moments and laughter you shared will stay on the forefront of your minds. He was such a fine example of a loving and compassionate human being, and a great husband, father and friend. His childlike enthusiasm for life was very infectious and made him such a joy to be around. I've known John for 35 years. He was in my wedding, and we used to go scuba diving a lot back in the late 1980s, 1990. Night diving for lobster in Redondo beach was always a blast with John. We also used to run over to the Oak Grove Frisbee golf course at lunch play a quick round. I've worked on countless flight projects with John and his reputation was stellar within the HQA organization and amongst all the project team members he supported. He will forever be missed and never forgotten. I love you John and may we meet again in paradise.

I remember the times when I visited John and Joanne’s house for Thanksgiving and taking about the good times

Sending much love, peace, and comfort to all of you. John was one of my absolute favorite colleagues, and I will miss him so very much. Always so upbeat and enthusiastic, and always had a story to tell about his latest project at home.
I met John in the late 90’s when he was assigned to come inspect the flight lasers that my team at a small laser company had built for JPL. He took all his notes on his Palm Pilot. He was fascinated by the technology we used to make the lasers so small, and years later, when I now worked for JPL and would see him around lab, he would always comment on how cool those little lasers were.
I knew we were in good hands when John was inspecting our hardware. He was so knowledgable, curious, detail-oriented, thorough, and invested in our success. Observing and working with John over the years has provided me a stellar example of how to be an engineer responsible for Mission Assurance.
I am truly heartbroken, and I know that anyone visiting this website feels that way too. We miss you, John.

My deepest condolences to the family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with John, and truly cherish the time I got to spend getting to know him and learning from him. John's quality of work was top-notch and he mentored us in so many ways. He valued safety above all, and everything he did was rooted in such kindness and respect for everyone he interacted with.
Beyond the work itself, John would take the time to slow down and appreciate the moment we were in. I remember one time he came by my apartment in Pasadena to deliver my backpack, which I had forgotten at a supplier. Before he took off, John said "got a minute?" with a mischievous smile, and the next thing I knew we were heading up Angeles Crest Highway for a joyride in "the red car." Even more surprising, he let me drive the dang thing in my fuzzy slippers! I'll never forget that. John had such an deeply kind and lively spirit, and I'm grateful to have known him.
Rest easy, John. ❤️

John was a wonderful colleague. I had the pleasure of working with him on OCO-3. He was always very thorough, inspiring the upmost confidence and trust that our mission would be successful. While he took the job seriously, he was a kind and light-hearted person who made those long days go by fast. I was really glad to know and work with him.

Sending my deepest love and sincerest condolences to the family. His kind and diligent spirit will be carried in all of us as we process his too soon departure. John is deeply missed.
John was an excellent mentor and I’m grateful for my opportunity to work with him through all of my instrument integration and test campaigns. He was always there to talk through hard challenges and guide us towards success. His supportive and collaborative nature empowered the team to thrive. John will always be remembered and honored; it’s been a privilege to work so closely with a JPL legend. He cared about the hardware, but he cared even more about the people. ❤️
