We are greatly sorry for your loss. It has been such a pleasure having Jerry as one of the missionaries FBCES has partnered with.  We shall also celebrate in the realization that he is with Our Lord.

Thank you Jerry for adding warmth and unity to our Ukarumpa community.  We praise God for your graduation

to eternity.  We will continue to pray for the family, especially Sue, as she looks toward the future.

Hi Sue, Julie, Matthew and Nathan.

Here with you in spirit - from down under. So wish I could be there with you.  What an amazing, giving and inclusive man.

Thanks for the visits. The coffee was always enjoyed and appreciated. The toast tongs work great. But most of all - thank you for your friendship and work to further the gospel.
Thank you for steaming the service.  Sorry we couldn't join you.  We've been praying for all of you!  Love John and Jean Benoit.

We are very sorry to hear the lost of  Jerry.  Our heart felt condolences and prayers for sue and the whole family. May God continue to strengthen  and bless you . Mathew 5. 4
Sue, Today is the day before Jerry's service, and I find myself wondering a multitude of things for you, Julie, Matt and Nathan. I wish I could be there to help you with a few things where needed and I wish I could be there to add my support to remember a wonderful man, husband, father, co-worker and friend. We will be watching the service online tomorrow. I was pleased to see that a number of PNG friends will be coming in person.
I remember (and it is still hard to say, "I remember"...) as I think back on so many memories of our life/ministry in PNG, that you were there too, since we have shared so many of the same years. I remember so many shared activities and ministry (though I believe you will have a significant ministry, even going on from here, because of what you and Jerry have done together), shared meals, shared fellowship, watching you both in action together countless times. I remember Jerry's leadership and example. I remember his dedication to point out areas that are forgotten or un-thought of by others. I remember... and I look forward to celebrating Jerry's life tomorrow with many others. Below are two more notes from our Islands' teams/support teams - from Rebekah Drew and Daniel Jezowski.

I’d have to say that most of my best memories of Jerry were musical in nature. I had not been in PNG long when I saw the Ukarumpa Community Theatre’s production of Fiddler on the Roof, starring Jerry and you, Sue, as Reb Tevye and his wife. It was, in a word, delightful; Jerry was perfectly suited to that role, and you were both fantastic. A more recent fond memory is of the a capella singing group that we were in for a while, together with Amy Marshall, Mary O’Bannon, Cyndi Cirre, Jeremy Lott, and perhaps a few other folks I’m forgetting. It was such a fun group to sing with, and we sounded pretty good, too! You and Jerry taught us a song about the fruit of the Spirit which was a lot of fun to sing; and I can’t help but think, as I remember Jerry, that he embodied those fruits of the Spirit well in his life—especially joy. His vision and dedication to the Bible translation work both with the Nali people specifically and in Manus Province as a whole were inspiring to me as a younger translator just starting out. When I’ve been in PNG for 34 years (Lord willing), I hope to still have as much joy and enthusiasm for this work as Jerry did! He will be greatly missed. Much love to you and your family, Sue.

Sue, I will always think of Jerry and the Handel's Messiah sing-along's. Having Jerry sing tenor definitely helped me out keeping on track. I also enjoyed the times you invited us over for Thanksgiving and then singing after the meal. Both of you made your house warm and inviting. I pray that God will comfort you at this time and I do look forward to our reunion in years to come.
In Christ,
Daniel Jezowski

Jerry and Sue brought much fun to life in Ukarumpa with their gifts of hospitality and zest for celebrating special occasions. The time Jerry played the role of Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof was so entertaining (and with Sue as Golde was perfect)! We also admired the way Jerry was willing to serve on EC and was the chair I think for several years.

We treasure the short times together during furlough, and Sue, please come any time!

Dear Sue and Family,

Although we were saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing, we are thankful to know he is rejoicing face to face with our Savior. The past 2 updates you and Jerry gave at Grace Gospel Chapel were tremendously encouraging. Praise the Lord for the work He is doing among the Nali people! May Jerry’s passing be the seed of many more souls joining him in eternity. To God be the glory, “great things He hath done”! We will continue to uphold you and your children and grandchildren and the work among the Nali people in prayer. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. Love in Christ, Jeremy and Lisa

He loved to worship the LORD, to preach the good news of JESUS, to quote the Sermon on the Mount during the Meeting House church services with the Ukarumpa international missionaries, he loved to sing, he loved to worship the LORD on the piano at home, in Ukarumpa, in any place where there was a piano, he loved to lead in worship to the LORD. He loved family and friends gathering for fellowship and food at his home near us in Ukarumpa. I cannot think of Jerry without Sue or Sue without Jerry. They were always together.
In response to "What did Jerry love to do?"

Jerry was always a generous, helpful friend, who gave so much to others, and really gave the meaning to working as a team. Although our times on EC never overlapped, I was grateful for his work on the documents which helped us as we later continued with them. I also appreciated his confidence that I could be an asset to the Branch through the Constitution Committee and later EC. Getting to know him through the Bible study group was a privilege.

Sue, we treasure you as a friend as well, and hope to cross paths again as we are in our season of remote assignment. Be assured of our prayers for you and the rest of the family. I will always remember how Jerry looked nonplussed at a concert one conference year, when you dedicated the piece you were playing together to him!

We love you, Sue! We'll be praying for God's peace and comfort during this difficult time. Get well soon! :)
I will never forget when Mr. Jerry Pfaff spoke during my children’s church service at Countryside Fellowship Church about how there are two things that last beyond this life - people’s souls and God’s Word. That made such an impression on me in my youth and what to focus on in life. I saw your family several times at the church I grew up in and at Greenwood Hills girls camp and always enjoyed the times you all were around as you brought joy and laughter with you and the most interesting stories about your ministry. My deepest condolences and prayers to you all, I know Mr. Pfaff has entered Heaven with a warm “well done good and faithful servant!”
What a large as life man. Thank you Lord for Sue and Jerry's hospitality. Nathan, a very poignant video of the dedication ... beautifully done. Thank you for sharing it.
Praying for you all as you navigate this portion of your lives- and Nathan, too ... blessings on your marriage.
Sue, rejoicing in your faith and trust and your determination to continue to invest in that which lasts forever. Behind you all the way - Hmmm. crash course in following the big man's footsteps. Praying wisdom, grace and joy for you as you walk this new path with the Saviour ahead of you. My love to Martha when you see her next - neat to see her in the video. Blessings and love from
May K.
I knew Jerry from our wonderful days at UNC, especially with our involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ. I was blessed to know both Jerry and his sister, Terry, also at UNC. The Pfaff’s are a great testimony to God’s love and grace, and how He blesses those who serve Him. Although this family will certainly grieve for their loss, I know they also rejoice in knowing Jerry is with his amazing Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! Those of us who know the Lord will be together again!!
My heart goes out to the entire family, especially to Sue.  As a widow myself, I know the depth of grief  and bewilderment as how to face the years ahead that one can experience.  I know that Jerry's love for you will continue to strengthen you and encourage you to live well and fully.  Much love, hugs and prayers from Sue Andersen

I will always remember Jerry's kindness, understanding and willingness to go out of his way to help! Back in 1997, when I returned to PNG after a short leave of absence, he listened with an open mind to my problems of not being allowed to return to my previous assignment. He encouraged me to document my story and my calling to that specific program, and to bring it before the Executive Counsel, of which he was the head. There were several established practices that were possible obstacles to my desires, but during my presentation before the EC he made sure each of them were brought up for discussion so that I could respond from my point of view. The result was that I was granted permission to resume the ministry God had called me there to do! And I owe it all to Jerry! Over the years following, he continued to be an encourager to me. I am very grateful! and will always remember Jerry as a friend.
