Geoffrey Higgs

I miss you so much, my beloved brother. I reflect on my love for you every single day. I treasure the experiences that we shared together with family and as brothers. I miss calling one another and talking about our children, Libby and of course just about every kind of sport. I miss calling each other to talk about challenging surgical cases and bouncing ideas off of one another. Every moment I spend with Libby and your children is a blessing to me.

I live my life differently because of losing you Jeff. I try to live in the moment more and embrace the time I spend with those I care about because I know that life may be fleeting.

I love you and miss you, my dear brother,

I am shocked and so saddened to be hearing of this now. He treated my daughter for bilateral clubfoot beginning in 2001. He was so kind and compassionate. It is because of him that she can walk and dance. My deepest condolences to your family and friends for this heartbreaking loss.

I am so sad to be hearing this just now! I have visited him back in 2012 for my scoliosis. He did such an amazing job on my surgery and overall he improved my self-esteem, I am so grateful for him. I just saw this! I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Libby in high school. At our 35th reunion, she didn't really remember me, but Jeffrey came over to the table that I was sitting at and he spoke to me and he was so lovely. He just radiated warmth and kindness.

I am in shock. I first met Dr. Hanway when my son Chase was born in 1998. Chase has club feet and Dr. Hanway has been a huge part of his life. He completed two surgeries on Chase and was always available to help when we had questions and concerns. We feel as if we lost a member of our own family. I recently tried calling for a followup appointment and that's when we heard about his death. We will probably never meet a surgeon or doctor as great as Dr. Hanway. Our prayers to his wife and children. He will be missed. xo

I am very sorry to hear of Dr. Hanway's passing. Ten years ago, he responded to a cold-call email and allowed me to shadow him in the OR at CNMC as I contemplated a career in medicine. I vividly remember the experience, particularly his phenomenal bedside manner and his unending patience with my barrage of pre-med questions throughout the day. Now as an attending physician, I can only hope to have a similar impact on my patients and on students considering a medical career. Thank you, Dr. Hanway.

My deepest condolences to the family with all my heart!!😢💔
I just had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hamway the last year , He operated my little dougther who has two year old, she had displacia on her hips and He did a great job on her !! Am very thankful and very very sad because she just start walking again and Dr Hamway is not here to see her walking again! 😢😢 We had an appointment with him on April 30 and I still can't believe that we will not see him anymore !! But I know He will see my dougther from the heaven !! 😔

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Hanway's sudden passing and send our deepest condolences to his family. Years ago, Dr. Hanway went out of his way to schedule an emergency appointment for our son (who was only four years old at the time) to evaluate a severe injury to his leg following a traumatic accident in our home. He was instrumental in diagnosing and arranging for a colleague to perform the critical surgery on our son. We have never forgotten his kindness and thoughtful guidance as we navigated this incredibly scary experience for our family. We are eternally grateful to him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and four children.

Deepest condolences to Dr. Hanway’s entire family. May God hold u in the palm of his hand as you try to navigate through all of this. I used to work with Dr. Hanway at Fairfax years ago. He was wonderful. I always knew that he was the surgeon to pick if my boys needed any ortho surgery. I am saddened by this terrible news. I enjoyed giving anesthesia to his patients. I want to start off by giving my deepest condolences to Dr. Hanway’s Family, friends, and colleagues. Dr. Hanway performed my daughter’s scoliosis surgery in October of 2017. We unexpectedly met Dr. Hanway in July and were informed her condition required surgery. He had the BEST bedside manner and made us feel at ease about the surgery. My daughter originally requested footage of the surgery, she wanted the whole thing videotaped (future doctor in training). Dr. Hanway was able to accommodate her in an appropriate photo to keep her interest peeked, but congruent with Children’s policies. I am truly saddened by the news of his passing. My family will forever be indebted to him for what he’s done for my child. He was an incredible doctor and an incredible man. He will be rewarded for his service.

He was the only doctor that my son wanted to sit next to as he always interacted and conversed with him with a smile on his face.
