We lost an absolutely amazing guy. I think everyone that met Jason was impacted by his positive energy. Always caring, helpful and supportive. I will miss so much my talks with Jason.
Wishing Jason's family thoughts and prayers at this incredibly difficult time.

The first time I met Jason, returning by ferry from a Hanlan's session as a budding kiter about 10 years ago, I was struck by his infectious enthusiasm and humor. The past day has been a flood of memories of many sessions I shared with Jason as he spread his stoke, experience and wisdom. He set the bar on how to truly live life to the fullest. Deepest condolences to his family.

About a month ago I went to Frenchman's Bay for the first time and there I met a super friendly guy that went out of the way to give me an in-depth explanation of the spot and reassured me that he would keep an eye on me. That awesome dude was Jason. RIP

This is typical: Jason would come to the beach to come / see you ride and make sure you were ok. (Jason by mistake took a picture from where he was sitting)
I did not know Jason well, but I did always expect to see him at Cherry Beach as soon as the wind was rideable. His enthusiasm was infectious. I always enjoyed talking to him either coming or going by the landscaping rocks in the parking lot. He was either full of anticipation, or fully stoked from his session. I think many of us will still expect to see him there. Jason’s circle of influence was broad in our community. He will be missed.

Jason you'll always be in our hearts, a great person like you will never be forgotten. Cheers to all the good times we had together, like this one back in 2012 Cuba. Love you man!!!

I don't know Jason but kitesurfing is gathering us here to share the pain of our loss. So i wanted to send you my sincerest condolences. May his soul rest in peace. Roland from Montpellier (France).
I got to know Jason Ghostrider virtually thanks to WOO. I am sad to hear this news. All my condolences to the family and loved ones. May the wind be with you. RIP. Marc
Wind at your back friend.I will forever miss your latest magic trick or card slight at the beach. May your family and friends find comfort in the outpouring of love and support at this time. Rest In Peace Brother!
One day in the spring of 2020 - in the middle of a socially distant pandemic- me and my girlfriend Natasha, happened randomly across Jason and his friend kiting on the west beach of Cobourg. We were amazed by the swan like dance of the large yellow kite, and were treated to an aerobatic demonstration of skill as we got to talk and learn about the wonderful sport of kiteboarding with the incredibly hilarious duo.

I was immediately amazed at Jason's humility, love of the sport, and his passion for sharing. It was his friend who had to whisper to me that Jason was a record holder athlete in jumping, but I didnt know what that meant at the time. Jason was just an overly optimistic and friendly person. He gladly shared his contact information with me, and told me to let him know if I ever wanted to get into the sport when we said goodbye.

A few months later, me and my girlfriend both signed up for lessons, following his advice. Jason gave me encouragment the rest of the summer, always paternally interested in my progress. Jason would always give caution and enthusiasm in equal measure. On one particular beautiful weekend, Jason called me up the morning I had earlier said I would be going out. He gave me an up to the moment weather forecast, a strict safety reminder, and plenty of anecdotal stories to ensure I knew how to have fun.

I had hoped to have one day join Jason on the water, and maybe even jump with the ghost rider himself. Jason changed my life in one summer, and I can only imagine what inspiration would yield from many more.

His last words to me. "Getting closer the reality mister. You have thousands of hours of practice, so do not get discouraged brother. Enjoy the journey."

I will Jason. Thank you for your mentorship. It meant a lot more than you'll ever know.

Deep sadness to see you go so soon. From the time we met at Sibbald to all the foiling sessions thereafter, you inspired me to be a better rider and human. To live each day with passion. May you continue to fly high and exist in eternal bliss.
My heart goes to family and friends. I did not know Jason personally but we are all a big family in sailing sports.
My heart goes out to you Molly and the whole family. We've lost touch over the years but I remember fondly being in the company of your large family and laughing and laughing. Jason did everything full on with no let up. I admired his endless energy and welcoming style.
I went for dinner a couple of times with Jason and Kent after kite sessions at Cherry. Jason was always super welcoming and willing to share his enormous wealth of knowledge, and not to mention all the stoke they shared when reading out the WOO results. <3
Very sad to hear of the accident. Jason was a woo (kitesurfing app) legend - he had a huge following and kited almost every day. He took the time to detail the conditions of every season he posted with his own picture formats and was always encouraging to other riders on woo. He would take the time to look at individual jumps and comment accordingly. Never met him but was a true friend to me and the kiting community. He first got in touch went my kitesurfing story on how I started got published by woo in 2015. Jason said his story was the same and would I follow him on the app. Ever since we stayed in touch and followed each other’s sessions.

Tribute to Jason Ghostrider

Just a few days ago I happened to interview and film Jason at Lake Simcoe. Here are some clips of him riding from that day and before, and his response to the question 'tell me more about Ghostrider'.

This picture is almost exactly 5 years ago. Jason was always greeting with a smile. I met Jason when I had just started kiting. I don't think there was a time that I saw him that he didn't help me. With advice, untangling my kite lines, rolling up my kite. Once even he helped me get my kite off the mast of a 27' sailboat that I got snagged on. He was a great guy and he will be missed!
I have met Jason first on the beach Frenchman's Bay! He came and help me to setup the kite and started conversation by introducing himself. From first interaction till last we have been good friends. I love his heart!
