This was from when Class Council met up at Tyson's Corner where we all dared each other to do embarrassing stuff in public. One of James's dares was to order a cheeseburger at Five Guys, but specifically request no meat or cheese.

As parents who also lost a 16 year old child in 2016, my wife and I know and understand how painful it is. Our love to Joe, Pingping, Cynthia, and all of James’s friends. James, we love you and you will be in our hearts forever🙏🏻❤️

Although I did not know James super well and our only connection was through the TJ UAV Club (I'm a rising Junior), I always enjoyed his presence. While other club members were working on their own things and I was left alone measuring, CADing, and doing my assigned tasks, it put a smile on my face when he'd often come and ask me about what I was doing. That little bit of attention, that only he gave to me on a regular basis, was so important to me because it reminded me of my value and that of my work. I will miss you, James.
I remember during our sophomore year when we were doing the spirit video, Sean and I had come up with this super complex script with a bunch of scenes and deep meanings woven throughout. After writing it, I couldn't imagine how we would get it done. However, James was able to somehow bring our vision to life and convey the encouraging core message of the video we wanted to spread to all TJ students - whatever challenges you may face, you have the power to learn from and get through them as long as you stay determined and have faith. Out of all of us, James put in the most work into that video. He was there every scene, gave up countless Lunch periods, and went to my house over the weekend. Even after, he had to spend hours editing it. Even though we would mess up so many times over and over, James somehow remained patient with us, even with the simplest scenes. I remember always being amazed by the way he took different angles and created beautiful shots. He always knew what he was doing. I remember there was a hard deadline for the video and we were panicking. While the video had to be max 5 minutes, James had made about a 10 minute video with all the footage we filmed. I remember video calling him and Sean late into midnight, trying to cut the video down while still keeping the most important scenes. It was really tough and I remember me and Sean almost falling asleep several times during the call while James just kept working at it. Staying awake for that long showed you how dedicated he was. Now, here's one last memory with James that is a true testament to his character. It was the last conversation I had with James on Messenger. I had this Spanish project I was panicking to finish because I only had 1 weekend before it was due. I desperately needed a green screen because I couldn't find mine. So, I put it out on social media asking anyone if I could borrow their green screen. Of course, James reached out to me and let me know he could give it to me the next day at school. However, 9 hours later, he let me know he was feeling sick and that he may have not been able to make it. In retrospect, it's kind of amazing that James even remembered to tell me. Feeling sick, the main things he'd probably worry about would be the classes and clubs he was going to miss. Yet somehow, he kept me in mind too. He offered to drop it off at my house over the weekend, even though he was already feeling sick. The morning of the day I needed it, I finally found a green tarp in my basement that I could use, so I let James know. And still, he offered to bring his green screen, letting me know it was 12 feet long. It's such a small, simple act, yet it's a huge testament of how he selflessly invested himself in others. He would do these kind of things for people without ever expecting anything in return. We're all going to really miss James and that compassionate heart he had, but at the same time, I'm grateful I got to experience it in the first place. Love you James <3
