The Guns & Tippett families have been entwined for three generations, mostly because of Ian.

Gonzo (everyone has an affectionate nickname in Australia) decided to stay with us in Adelaide, while travelling with his mom Lynette in 1983. I’m so glad he did because we had one hell of a great time. Parties, beaches, bands, bbq’s and mates, not to mention the girls, Coopers beer and Vegemite.

Ian was a great photographer, intelligent, witty, had a cheeky sense of humour and so tech savvy. But his greatest gifts was how much he invested in others. He fostered our friendship keeping us connected even when continents apart. I could always rely on Ian.

My family, brothers and your friends in Australia have struggled so much losing you. So many precious memories made together, I was hoping we could make many more. All I know is I find it difficult saying “he was”.. I will miss you dearly my friend.

Our parents were friends, we will always remain friends and now our children are friends, all because of you.

I extend my most sincere condolences to Emma, Megan, Mathew, Lynette, Linda, family and friends. I will cherish our friendship and the memories we made forever.

By the way, I think it’s your shout next time we catch up mate.

Just the most beautiful tribute to a terrific man.  Our hearts are so sad for your loss!  Ian was a wonderful, kind, funny and just an easygoing great guy.  Admired how handy and technology savvy he was.  Also was such a great father, spouse and family man.  We will miss his great hugs.    What a brave fight he fought.  RIP my friend.❤️
Ian was the first person I ran into after the worst moment of my life at that time. He gave me the biggest bear hug and said " eventually it's going to be alright". Both Emma and Ian have graciously shared their children with me and I'll forever be grateful. He certainly built a beautiful home and created a beautiful family. R.I.P  fly high. Emma you won't have to look for him he'll be waiting for you..

To my family....I have wonderful memories of Ian from the early Eagle Harbour Beach days.....so long ago.....I always adored Ian's spunky, independent, and fiesty nature....he was a true original, lived life on his own terms.....a creative electrical current always running through him.  I'm thinking about all of you at this difficult and painful time.  God bless you Ian as the feathery wings of the angels comfort you now as you rest on a diaphanous cloud.   With Love from Aunt Mary-Lisa
I was fortunate enough to work with Ian many times on various projects over the years. He was always the very definition of a gentleman. Quick with a laugh, quick to help, filled with knowledge and kindness, I am very sad to know that I will never see his smiling face at work again. My condolences to his family on this heartbreaking loss.
I am really sad to hear about Ian. I remember him from our Eagle Harbour days and was lucky to reconnect in the past few years. He was a really great guy. My sincere condolences to all of the Gunns family.

I didn't ever get to meet or know Ian, but was fortunate to know Emma, her sisters and parents for a couple of years in the early 90's.

I can tell from everything I'm hearing that he was an amazing man, son, husband, father and friend.

My hearfelt condolences to Emma, his family and everyone that knew him 🧡

So shocked and saddened for your loss Emma. Ian’s vitality and your love of each other shone through your face book pages. I never met him but knew I liked him. Warmest thoughts are with you and your family ❤️
What a beautiful story just so perfect, may her rest in eternal peace…Love you Ian and condolences to the families.
Thank you for writing so beautifully about Ian.  He has left a mark.  Ian taught me a great deal about friendship, and I am so sorry that he is gone.  My heart goes out to you Emma, Megan and Matthew.
