Heidi was also my principal at EES. I was working down valley, and knew pretty quickly that I wanted to be at "her" school. She radiated light and her leadership was unmatched. She helped me grow as an educator, and pushed me to be my best. She set an example of excellence in so many ways, and her staff thrived under her guidance. Sending so much love to Andy and her family. Heidi is in our hearts forever.
Heidi was my principal when I worked at EES.  Her smile and positive attitude were contagious. She always had the right words of encouragement, even when facing difficult circumstances.  Heidi was more than a principal, she was a mentor, an example of hard work, organization, and compassion.  Her love for education, her students, her teachers, and her staff are an inspiration to continue in this challenging field.  Her adventures and travels are an inspiration to explore all the wonders the world has to offer.  Rest in peace, Heidi!  Your legacy lives on in every life that you touched!

Strong, selfless, empowered, beautiful human! Heidi was my boss and the principal of my children at EES.  She set a high standard with lasting impact!

Sending love!♥️🙏♥️

I am sending so much love to Andy and the Hanssen Family.  I consider myself so lucky to have known Heidi.  She was so much more than a principal to me; she was my mentor, friend, and a shining example of strength and grace. Heidi had a passion for education and a way of making everyone around her feel seen, heard, and valued and she made Edwards Elementary School a place where everyone could thrive. She guided so many teachers, students and families with her wisdom, kindness, and dedication. Heidi taught me to be a better educator and better person and for that I will be forever grateful.   I know her spirit will continue to live on in all those who loved Heidi Hanssen!

Heidi loved so hard and had such an open and generous heart. Like so many, I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of her huge heart and will forever be grateful💓

Our hearts are breaking for Andy and Heidi’s family…her spirit is truly one in a million… Heidi, I’ll be seeing you in the stars, on the river, in the canyons and on the mountain..until we meet again✨✨

That this is part of Gods plan is unjust. Heidi was a priceless gift to our community in Ridgway for the last four years and what she accomplished (much while ill) will leave a legacy for generations. Her dedication to her educational craft and the kids, teachers and administrators for whom she felt responsible was ardent and loving. My family loved her a lot, will miss her more and will carry her in our hearts forever. The world needs more Heidi’s!
