Ernest would always brag about his grandsons and tell stories about what they had done when they were fishing or other adventures. When he was done, he would always say, "they are going to remember me". And then add, "I don't know how they are going to remember me, but they will" with a big laugh.
Ernest and I worked together years ago.   We became friends and now, 30+ years later, here I am writing a little goodbye.  He as one of the few men I've ever me who truly walked and lived his faith.  He was a part of our family and one of the first people to ever hold my baby daughter.  His smiling face was priceless.  I'll always miss you big guy.  Safe travels and I hope the fishing is good where you're headed!

My condolences to the Ernest Edwards Family, attended many Edwards Family gathering and was glad to be related to the family. May God's blessings still keeps the  family  together ❤️

What I'll remember about Uncle Ernest is that he loved family. He would take cross- country trips from the west coast to the east coast, stopping along the way to visit family in various states. He would be the first to arrive at family reunions, relishing the large gatherings of family that he didn't get to see often. I will remember his heartfelt counsel in difficult times. I will also remember his signature smile that radiated his joy in family photos. Your smile will live on in our memories, Uncle Ernest.

This was a poem Dad wrote and gave to me on one of my birthdays- I think it's applicable in any situation and for anyone:

Rain

Wind

Desert Storm

Cloudy Sky

Freezing Cold

Traffic Jams

Crabby Boss

Long Commute

Overtime

Headache

Tired Feet

Upset Stomach

Doesn't exist in Love

I love you----

Your Father,

Ernest

When I first met dad I was nervous he had a hardy laugh and a love for God like no other. His hugs were riceless especially if you were having a day.  He took me and my incarcerated husband under his wings and embraced us as his children. I knew I could always talk to him. I was blessed to break bread with him and Monique the week before he went to our father and i know he is in no more pain and loving us just like he always did if not more. I miss you dad but know you instilled inme a faith I won't ever turn away from. Maurice and I love you! Maurice wants to know who he is suppise to go fishing with now. But you will be in his heart when he goes.

Ernest was an incredible father and raised you well. He was a role model for everyone. He was like a father to everyone.  We will all miss him.

-Melaku and Wudit’s family

I worked with Ernest for many years. He was very respectful, kind and caring and a life coach/mentor to us all.  We do remember and talk about the lessons he taught us all, to this day. It was a pleasure to work with him and I truly enjoyed seeing his smiling face every day. We can never fill the shoes he left behind. Knowing the impact he made on all of us, I can only imagine the impact he made on the rest of the world and how much he will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his friends and family.

Ernest has been a huge part of our lives for many years . He loved my kids and it was important to him to be a steady Presence in their lives . To teach them Gods word and do his best to live out what he studied and taught . That was a priceless gift to us .

The hole he left in our life is deeply felt and always will be .

I am very glad to have known , and loved Ernest. He will be missed greatly . But I know his voice and wisdom will always be with us and we will have the best reunion one day .
