I first met Donald nearly a decade ago online, through our shared interests and shared professional sphere.  Our friendship grew over the years, as we repeatedly met in person at conferences.  We worked directly together for several years, but that happened after many years of frequent interactions and collaborations.He was a wonderfully gentle, kind and intelligent man, and a prolific writer and thinker.   He has left behind a wealth of writing, interviews and videos of his conference presentations.Many people did not get to meet the real Donald, but I did, and I am proud to say that he was my friend.   I will miss him immensely.
