Donald Edward Hogun, age 76, of Red Bluff CA, passed away on December 25, 2023 after a long battle with heart disease.  

Donald, fondly known as Don, was born in England, Arkansas on September 13, 1947 to Lilly Rucker and James Hogun.  Growing up, he was the oldest of 5 children and often took on a mature family role.  He started working for Siskiyou Daily News as a Route Supervisor at 17 years old and due to his work-driven mind he propelled into the role as the Publisher.  Recognized for his ability to lead a team, the parent company Thompson Newspapers promoted him into troubleshooting other states, including Michigan and Utah.  After 30 years in the newspaper industry, he shifted his focus and took an opportunity with Walmart and relocated to Red Bluff, CA as the Human Resources Manager of the Distribution Center.  He very much enjoyed his career of 20 years with them before retiring in 2015.

Don is survived by his wife Jill of over 47 years and 3 children, Stacey Echard (Kyle), Don Hogun (Veanne) and Amy Hogun along with 6 grandchildren.  He is also survived by his 3 sisters.  Don was predeceased by his parents, one brother and son Eddie Hogun.

From a young age, Don enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing, boating and other recreational sports.  Don was passionate about his involvement in the Elks Lodge.  From barbecues to gun shows and socializing with friends, he enjoyed being an Elks member nearly all of his life.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
