Goldman Sachs India was my first job and Dave Simons was heading it in 2004. For a fresh analyst, he has left a big impression on me. He was very humble and down to earth and knew each one of us even years later. Loved the way he took time to walk the floor and connect with us.
But what left a lasting impression on me was that years later even after he had moved back to the US, on his visits to the India floor, office had grown by now, he still came walking the floor and walked up to my seat and spoke to me. That is a memory that I still hold dear as it touched me.
So I'm truly saddened by this news. But happy that I had a chance to have known him. Prayers for his family at this difficult time.
So sorry to hear about this. I cannot believe this . It just feels like that I worked with him yesterday. May his soul rest in peace. A true gentleman and authentic leader gone too soon. Hope God gives strength to the family 🙏.

Dave Simons was a great facilitator for Goldman Sachs University (Goldman Sachs Bangalore)
We looked forward to his presence in the training sessions at Goldman Sachs, especially during the Diversity session - Bafa-Bafa where he highlighted the importance of workplace diversity and how teams should work together. A true culture carrier, Dave’s facilitation on “The Culture of the Firm” at the monthly Symposiums had a tremendous impact on Campus and Lateral hires.
A CEO of such stature, Dave was simple, down to earth and approachable!! Walking the floors every other day at Crystal Downs, personally inquiring on the welfare of employees and office staff.
My condolences to his family, may his soul rest in peace!!

David recruited me at Goldman and that kicked my career off. What a man! I still remember his ‘quarterly townhalls’, which was him standing on a Credenza and shouting out to a floor-full of people. This was Goldman Sachs Bangalore in 2004. That acorn has grown to a mighty oak, thanks to the early nurturing that David gave it. And yet, he was humble, unassuming and friendly. Never too senior to help out. Much respect and much gratitude to have known and worked so closely with him. Rest in Peace David, you leave behind a legacy worthy of pride.
David was a legend. He taught me so much. He inculcated culture. He set the bar high and taught us books and records. He taught us to aim for zero defects “no stock record breaks”. He stood on desks to show us the way and talk about earnings and teach us right from wrong. He will be remembered as making an impression on many thousands of folks! Thank you David for making us better and may you Rest In Peace.

Deepest condolences to David’s 4 kids, parents and siblings. Dave was taken far too young and me and the Stony Brook crew will miss him greatly. Was very happy that we could spend some amazing quality time with him last September. It was a visit none of us will ever forget.
"Thank you for everything that you taught us. Rest in peace dear friend, mentor, guide and a charming human"

Dave was the biggest “slacker” at Stony Brook when a bunch of us shared the same dorm and later suite from 1981-85. But he always stepped up when it mattered. I often tell the story how he somehow managed to keep the same (small-sized) 5 subject notebook for all classes during his 4.5 yrs at the SBU. Dave seemed to have it all figured out. He led our intramural softball and football teams to success several times. The guys all enjoyed one final reunion at his place last Sep, 2019 to catch up after many “missed” years. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on a very long time.

I got to know Dave through work where I was inspired by his passion, enthusiasm and energy and he became a real mentor for me as someone I hugely respected and looked up to. Our bond grew through our shared passion for personal sporting challenges. Dave introduced me to triathlon and took me to my first football game (I'm from England), both in the same weekend - a high school game JD was playing at who he was so proud of as he was all his children. After that first triathlon I got home and was inspired, signing up to an Ironman later that year. His initial reaction was to tell me I was mad but I'll never forget the Monday morning in the office after I told him, he couldn't wait to come over and tell me he'd signed up! There was no way he was going to miss out, he was really buzzing. For the next few months we spoke a lot about our training and he was really looking out for me even researching and finding me an awesome bike which I still own. We had a great road trip from NY down to Tampa and I have such fond memories of that weekend and our celebrations afterwards. There is no way I'd have done that without his inspiration, infectious energy and love for life. My life was enrichened greatly through knowing him and I was so sorry and sad to hear of his passing. He will always have a place in my heart and I offer my deepest condolences to his family.
