He was so much more than any one title, Pastor, Dad, Uncle, Friend. The difference in his life was Jesus Christ and God's love empowered him to make a lasting impact on many lives, including mine.

I feel a great sense of honor and responsibility as a part of his living legacy of loving God and others. As God said about Enoch, we could say of Uncle Dave: "And Dave walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."

Tommy started attending BBC with his family 21 years ago. And I began in 2014, after we were married.
The man I married I owe, in great part, to Pastor's dedication, teaching, admonishing, and love for my husband the last two decades. And I know beyond doubt that Pastor loved us both and regularly prayed for us and our marriage these last 5 years.
The loss is great, but our God is greater! We look forward to seeing Pastor again in Glory.
"When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that shall be...When we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the Victory!"

Travis and I cannot express our love and thankfulness to Pastor and his family. To say we were blessed by having Pastor in our lives would be an understatement. I don’t even think he knew how many times his kindness and love gave us strength to continue on. He was indeed a Man of God. We are so grateful. We are heartbroken...but we know we shall see him again...and once again we have the strength to continue on. One last inspiration...he gave us...do well down here...so we can talk about it up there with Jesus!! ❤️❤️ Love you Pastor Dave...love your family...love our church family...we were so blessed to have you!!

Gilbert family and friends, I live up in the Seattle/Tacoma area and haven't been with L&L for very long but when I first met David, right away it was very apparent that he had a natural presence of greatness about him. He was always willing to help and more than willing to listen. In the short time that I did know him he has made a positive impact in my life showing me ways of just how to be as simply as I can put it, I always enjoyed our conversations and I'm saddened that I will no longer be able to do that. My heart goes out to everyone that was involved in David's life and he will continue to impact lives for the better.

Michelle and children,
I was deeply sorry to hear that Dave had passed away unexpectedly. I have such great memories of times spent with both of you in Bible College. Dave was an honorable and devoted man who loved the Lord deeply. His testimony was exemplary. I'm sorry that we were never able to get to California and present our ministry to juvenile delinquents. Paul and I would have loved spending time with you and seeing your family, church, and ministry. I know that you have both been a blessing and encouragement to thousands of people through the years. Thank you for every kindness you showed me when I was a young woman in Pensacola. I have never forgotten. Looking for that "Blessed Hope and glorious appearing! I Thes. 4:13-18 "...comfort one another...."

I will never forget the day that Pastor Dave met me at the alter as I walked that "long" aisle at BBC Tujunga he gently walked me in back and opened a Bible to show me how Christ died for my sins and was willing for forgive me if I just asked. Almost 3 years later Iwould watch my wife walk the same aisle and with Pastor Dave standing next to me whispered "Breathe and remember practice say (I Do) so you do not squeal". An amazing man - heaven is blessed! Praying for all the Gilbert Family! With much Love!

My heart is hurting to have lost one of the best men I've ever known. It was a joy to know him and a privilege to call him Uncle. There are not enough words to describe what he meant to my family.
I loved so many things about who he was....the little things... He had the fastest and sharpest wit. He always sang the loudest during Happy Birthday. He was the best storyteller, and had the best stories....
The Big things.... He showed you by example how family should love and support one another. He was never too busy to sit down and give you advice or talk you through a situation. And He was always able to see the positives to help you through.
There are many more things but these are the things, big and small, that I hold closest in my heart.
I will miss him greatly❤

We were heartsick when we heard of Bro Gilbert's passing. The whole Gilbert family has been so instrumental in our entire family over the years. It has been a blessing and a privilege to be able to sing for his church when I am in California. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to the Gilbert family and to all my brothers and sisters at Bible Baptist Sylmar!

Pastor Dave was my pastor back in early 90s and I am thankful for his friendship, encouragement, and mentorship! I have nothing but fond memories of my time there!

Bro Dave was our pastor, prayer partner, teacher, best friend and counselor for over 30 years. It will take mighty big shoes to fill the hole he left when he passed away. We will miss his messages he left to "just check up on you guys" and to pray for each others needs. Like one of King David's mighty men, he was a true Champion.
