If we can all act the way Dave did towards others - caring, compassionate, understanding and kind - the world would be a much more peaceful place. There was no sophistication with Dave. Its as if he was put on the earth to show us what it meant to be Christ-like. He took care of me not as a company rep, but as a brother. We'll sure miss him and give our most sincere condolences to the family. God has a reason (beyond our understanding) to lift up one of his most devoted servants on this day.

My heart grieves for the Gilbert's & my BBC church family in the loss of Pastor Dave. What a faithful, dedicated man he was!
My life is forever changed because of the fervent preaching & teaching from God's Word that he not only believed, but lived & greatly encouraged us to live also!
He provided spiritual food, and encouragement, and much counsel whenever asked.
He showed many, including 2 of my grandchildren, the way to the cross for which I am forever grateful.
I thank the Lord for allowing me the privilege to learn from this faithful servant. His time devoted to prayer made a difference in the church & in his family.
May the Light continue to shine in Sylmar!

As I read through the many comments today, I realized that I knew very little about David outside of our business relations at L&L.
Each time I saw David, he greeted me with a smile and very firm handshake. Without realizing it, until reflecting upon it today, I would seek him out at the account where we were working just to visit for a few minutes. Always very helpful, Never afraid of work and the last one to leave an account.
A real gentleman and role model.
May God bless David family during the grieving process and know that he will welcome us all with a smile and firm handshake.

We had a very nice Celebration Service for dad yesterday- complete with party balloons and all. 🙂

Thanks to everyone for all of your shared memories and outpouring of love towards dad.

My dad's story is one of investing in people. It continues with every person who reinvests the blessings they received from dad's work. His desire was to lift up Jesus Christ and trusted the Lord to put Spirit and life into his work.

I think he did it right. I think he's worth emulating.

Last week my dad got to have two of his greatest desires fulfilled- He saw the smile of Jesus' face and heard him say "Well Done, my good and faithful servant!"

I'm so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We have been and will keep praying for God's peace and comfort for all of you.
I ran into Dave not that long ago in the Target parking lot and we had a nice chat. A good memory! It brought back other fun memories of our kids playing sports together. Hearing of his unexpected passing is such a reminder for me to cherish one another. I'm so looking forward to that great reunion with Christ and all of our brothers and sisters in Him!

It is hard to imagine that Pastor Dave is no longer with us. Looking back, I realize that he was a part of nearly every major event in my family's life. Pastor counseled my parents and officiated their wedding; he trained and ordained my father to be a pastor; he dedicated my brother & I; and he was present at my church's first major anniversary. He even wrote my letter of recommendation to college.  We will never forget his love, nor his faithfulness to his Savior. I am so grateful that God gave us a Pastor to guide us and pray with us. Most of all, I am grateful that God gave my dad a Pastor who taught him how to be a godly father. Heaven seems so much closer! 2 Timothy 4:6-8 "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
