Background
Connie Weaver, who unfortunately passed away Dec. 1 2022, was a co-owner of the Geneva Green Market and founded it alongside Karen Stark in the mid 2000s. The main goal of this not-for-profit (NFP) organization was to bring truly local produce to your table, literally “Farm to Table”, as the saying goes.
The Geneva Green Market was held in several locations, most notably the parking lot off of River Lane down by the Fox River in Geneva, IL on Thursday mornings. Most recently, the GGM was held at the First Congregational Church of Geneva. But, due to big hit of COVID-19 and other financial burdens, the Geneva Green Market has unfortunately been put on the back burner and cannot operate out of the church at this present moment. The kitchen within the church also needs to be renovated and rebuilt in order to operate out of it.
With this fundraiser, we hope to apply funds to the Geneva Green Market, NFP organization to see that it becomes a fully functional, regular market once again. Some of these funds will also go towards renovating/rebuilding the church kitchen, so that GGM may operate out of there as before. This was Connie’s dream.
