My aunt, my mum and I were so alike in our tastes and our hobbies. Sewing clothes, patchwork, appliqué.. I don't paint but Claudine and mum did. Our messages contained pictures of what we were working on and what I was finding difficult to do. Claudine, like my grand mother, was a really good seamstress, we had many discussions about the "burrito method" which I flunked regularly! Patchwork was something we all did and there was discussions over materials and colour choices. We loved fashion and clothes and we probably had way too many all three of us. In the last few years as Mum and Claudine got more elderly, I visited shops and exhibitions and send pictures and waited for the comments. When mum died, Claudine became my last link and we clung to each other from a distance. When we talked it was always in french and recently we sang in french together while she was at the hospital until Claudine said people were giving her funny looks! She is in my heart with mum
