I'm so sorry for the loss of Katie. I'll always think of her as a sweet 10 year old that was so intelligent and always had a book in her hands. I had a great time babysitting her, Lauren and Tommy many years ago. One funny story was when I was babysitting and Katie was in her room reading not wanting to be bothered, Tommy and Lauren were playing in another room and Tommy kept jumping on the bed being wild and crazy and I clapped my hands at him to get his attention, Lauren ran into Katie's room and said "did you hear that? She slapped him" Katie was unamused and said "he probably deserved it" I quickly let her know I didn't slap him I just clapped at him. Katie was as cool as could be and said whatever, can you close my door and go away now. Her light will shine through the memories we have of her. I will continue to pray for comfort and peace for her family and friends.

Dear Janie, Pat and family,
Catherine had an extraordinary capacity for loving and giving. I have many happy memories of Catherine arriving at our home, always with a beautifully wrapped gift (brimming with bright tissue, ribbons, sparkles!).. and her radiant smile adding to the light she brought to the room. I valued my relationship with Catherine..as I know her friendships meant the world to her and brought her much joy. It is my deepest hope that all her goodness will live on in her ‘donations’ to life…and will bring you peace.
With love and heartfelt thoughts to you and all the Prendergast family,
Ellen Rittenhouse and family

Being some of your original neighbors in the Homestead neighborhood, we have many fond memories of being good friends and watching your children grow up. We had so hoped to be at the memorial gathering tomorrow and catch up on old times, but we seemed to have contracted bad colds instead. We will be there in spirit .
