Apologies for Barb and I not being able to make it to the memorial service. After Barb's medical problems in July, I don't have any time left to take off of work. Barb and I are doing well, but missing Carter often.
Carter was a kind, honest man who made everyone around him feel at ease. He loved golf, travel, a good joke, and the simple joys of life — always finding beauty in the everyday.
To me, Carter was more than a stepfather. He was a steady hand, a quiet source of wisdom, and a true friend. He taught me that family isn’t just about blood — it’s about love, loyalty, and showing up for one another.
He was also a very thoughtful and loving husband.
Thank you to everyone who was able to show up to the memorial service and to everyone who took a moment to share your memories of him. It means the world to us.

Carter was a dear friend. I met him in 1970 when we both pledged Sigma Pi Fraternity. We were roommates and remained friends until his passing this year. He lived in Indianapolis Indiana, and his goal was to attend the Indy 500 for 50 years. Fortunately, I was able to accomplish that goal with him. He was a great friend. Even though we saw each other infrequently, we always met for the 500. He always had good advice for me, and I will miss him. I will miss our visits later in Peoria Arizona too.
Carter and Barb loved Viking cruises all around Europe. He told me of his wonderful trips. Other than golf, he thoroughly enjoyed "Cruising". Rest in peace, Carter, I miss you!

Who knew a random meeting at the Atlanta Airport would result in such a close relationship. We enjoyed Carter and Barb's company on several Viking cruises and also visited each other's homes. Carter's quick wit always resulted in much laughter. Carter encouraged us to join his Wordle group; we enjoyed the friendly competition and his questioning when one of us "accidentally" stumbled on the correct Wordle solve in just a few tries. We remember him every day as we struggle to complete the Wordle puzzle and hope he is looking down upon us with a smile. Our friend, you are missed but will always be fondly remembered in our hearts.

Always enjoyed talking on sports subjects—ie. Purdue basketball, Purdue football (how badlyPU would be beat). Carter also enjoyed his golfing buddies. Plus hearing about Barb /Carter’s cruise travels.

I knew Carter for about 7 years playing with him in Tango. He was very well like by everyone in the group. Carter was always courteous and cheerful! He used to tease me about driving to the golf course because I lived right there. He would ask me how the traffic was coming to the course! My prayers are with him and his family. RIP my friend.
