Carter's obituary

Carter Kenneth Ebann, 75, of Peoria, AZ, passed away on March 27th, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Carter was born on November 1st, 1949, to Louise and Robert Ebann in Chicago, IL. After graduating from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 1967, he went on to study Accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he was a member of the tennis team and an active member of Sigma Pi fraternity.

After earning his B.B.A. in Accounting, Carter embarked on a lifelong career with the Internal Revenue Service.

He married and had two children, Brad and Elizabeth. In 1994, he remarried Barbara, his beloved wife of more than 30 years, and gained a bonus son, Colin.

Following his retirement after 35 years of dedicated service with the IRS, Carter and Barbara relocated to Peoria, AZ, where he embraced his passions for golf and world travel.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, Carter was known for his quick wit, deep love of history, and unwavering loyalty to his favorite sports teams—the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Chicago White Sox. He cherished attending major sporting events, including holding yearly tickets to the Indianapolis 500, and he celebrated winning a long-sought-after fantasy football championship among friends.

Carter’s generosity was reflected in his annual contributions to his alma mater’s business and accounting programs, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and several local children’s organizations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louise Ebann, and his half-brother Carl Ebann. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ebann; his children, Brad (Mary) Ebann, Elizabeth (David) Cornell, and Colin Martin; his granddaughters, Harley and Liliana; and his brother Charles “Chuck” Ebann.

Carter’s love of life, family, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
