I'm so sorry for your loss, and for the loss we've all just experienced. Caleb and I worked miles apart, but I felt so close to him. We talked so much about things besides work. He was such a joy to have in my life, and I truly feel like I'm a better person for having known him. Please know how much of a special person he was, and what an amazing soul he has.
He was the sweetest greatest dude to ever work here. He always was a light in the dark. He worked really hard and always was amazing in what he did. He was very humble and was an inspiration to other people. He brought Oscar and nothing but bringing kindness came from him. He was a curious learner and I am so sorry that this amazing star disappeared in the universe.

2011, Pershing Middle School, Springfield Mo

I was just 12 years old and it was the first week of 7th grade, and a girl I knew from church had invited me to sit with her and a couple friends at lunch, taking me as the new kid under their wing as a nice gesture. I had been homeschooled up until then, and I was in a strange place and didn't know if I was going to fit in or make any friends. While I sat there at lunch, this blonde kid I had never met before plops down right beside me like he's known me forever, and says 'hey man, what's up! My name's Caleb. I'm gonna give you a butt bump!' And before I could ask, he energetically slid across that old lunch table bench and slammed the side of his hip into mine, and I watched the chocolate milk I had in my hand slow-mo splash up into the air and back down onto the front of my shirt (it was a green and white striped polo if my memory serves me correctly), drenching me in chocolate milk in front of EVERYONE. His playful expression from seconds earlier turned to one of shock, matching mine. Despite the chocolate milk monsoon mishap, that one interaction that day gave me one of the most supportive, kind, funny, outgoing and loyal friends I would ever have the privilege to know, and I got to experience the ups and downs of middle school, high school, and college shoulder to shoulder with Caleb. That was the day he sat down next to me, and I was blessed to have him stay by my side for 15 years.
