Barry's obituary
Barry Paul Sleeker of Arlington, Texas, age 68, transitioned to the arms of Jesus with his family and close friends by his side on December 30, 2023.
Barry was born on December 6, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert and Jackie Sleeker. He grew up in Fort Worth and later moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where he and his father owned and operated Bob’s Muffler Shop for many years. He returned to Texas in 1984 and opened another muffler shop for a short time before deciding to attend college to become a registered nurse. Most of his nursing career was spent at Medical City of Arlington in the ICU where he made many friends and impacted countless lives. Shortly after graduating, Barry met and married his wife of 29 years, Analiza. Together they enjoyed traveling, karaoke and spending time with friends and family.
He had many interests throughout his life. Playing the piano was a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life. In his younger years, he pursued his pilot’s license and purchased a small Cessna airplane that his children enjoyed far more than he did! Model airplanes have always been something he enjoyed. Though he did fly them some, he really enjoyed building them and tinkering with them. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and even began doing woodwork later in his life. Throughout his life, the one hobby that never left him was the love of all things that have to do with the lake, especially boating and fishing. It was always his dream to have a lake house with a boat dock.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sleeker. He was survived by his mother, Jackie Sleeker; wife of 29 years, Analiza Sleeker; brother, Steve Sleeker and wife Marla; sister, Robin Sleeker; son, Bobby Sleeker and wife Robin; daughter, Helen Aycock and husband David; son Zachary Cerda; grandchildren, Nicholas Aycock, Peyton Riner, Brittanie Rewinkel, Melody Moon, Adam Kirby, Olivia Kirby and Sophia Mamaliga; great grandchildren, Adrian Sanchez, Rosie Aycock, Aliana Aycock, Arielle Aycock, Stormie Rewinkel, Izak Rewinkel and Sylis Rewinkel.
