Immediately after moving to Arizona for the next step of my own medical training and dealing with some new severe eye issues I found Dr. Epstein. I had the last appointment of the day and he spent two hours with me explaining everything, talking shop and teaching me everything I’d never known about the eye from the molecular level up. I was awe struck at his brilliance, astute observations, and comprehensive approach to it all. We also talked about being New Yorkers. I so looked forward to every appointment thereafter. Only a few weeks ago I stumbled upon a series of education video interviews of him online which I watched many of- all incredibly informative. It appears I am only one of very many he made a lasting impression on.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Epstein. I have been a patient of his for over a year and he has helped me tremendously with my dry eye symptoms. I knew when I first met him that he was someone special who conveyed a profound sense of caring, knowledge and professionalism not often found in the medical field.

My condolences to his family and colleagues. He will be missed.

So shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Epstein’s passing. He took me in on an emergency on a Sunday for an eye ulcer and he and Dr. Steinhauser were so wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable, that I decided to make them my eye doctors. They were so great that I travelled an hour to get to their office. They both have treated me dry eye and subsequent eye ulcers. He will be greatly missed, my heart goes out to his family at this time.

My condolences for your loss. I was a first time patient at the eye clinic with Dr. Epstein and was amazed at what a genuine person he was. He shared with me a touching story while he was a kid about giving his last 5 dollars to a homeless man in front of a church and later finding the 5 dollars in front of church where the homeless guy had sat. He was a great fellow and made you at home.
