We are so sorry to hear of Dr Epstein’s passing.  Our sincere condolences to family and friends.

Jill Calev & Jim Garity

I am sorry for your family's loss. Dr. Epstein knew how to make people feel competent and comfortable about their dry eye condition.  I am grateful to have been his patient.
Dr. Epstein was able to properly identify my dye eye issues and provide the solutions and medication to bring relief that I never thought possible. Dr. Epstein was a true genius. He was kind, witty, funny and truly tried to help all of his patients to see without "tears". He will be missed by many, both in the professional and patient community. I know that God has a new Doctor in heaven working with him. It won't be the same when I visit PEC.

My condolences to Dr Steinhauser, family, friends and coworkers. What a sad loss of a brilliant man. I only had one appointment with him, but he made feel like I was part of the family. May you find comfort in knowing he touched so many lives and his legacy will live on through you all!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Epstein.  I was only able to meet him once.  It was the last day  he was in the office.  I am so touched that he was willing to take on a new patient with all he was dealing with.  He spent a lot of time with me explaining dry eyes.  Such a kind and knowledgeable man.  Such a great loss for all of us.  My heart  goes out to family and office staff as you deal with this sad loss.
I just learned of Arthur's passing. My heartfelt sympathy goes to the family and loved ones of this remarkable man.
I was so very sorry to hear about Art's passing. My prayers are with his family for comfort and peace in this difficult time.
Our heart goes out to Dr Steinhauser, her family and the wonderful people at PEC.  We are so sorry for your loss.

This was such shocking and upsetting news. When I first came to see Dr. Epstein for dry eye treatment, he and I bonded quickly  as fellow former New Yorkers of the same age. Treatment sessions were invariably accompanied by his endless supply of stories, anecdotes, and humorous--and insightful--observations. He always had me smiling in the chair, and very often laughing out loud. He combined unparalleled professional expertise with extraordinary warmth, friendliness, and openness. I have never met anyone like him in all my experiences with health care practitioners. His loss leaves an unfillable void. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and co-workers.
My deepest sympathies to Dr Steinhauser, her family and their Staff. I was a patient of Dr Epstein.  He was a brilliant Doctor and such a kind soul.
Art was a good friend and colleague for over 40 years.

We lost him too soon. He is missed.

Dr Art Epstein was one of the very few colleagues that I had continued to be in contact with for the decades since I graduated professional school. We both graduated from SUNY in the Haffner era, and I think Dr Haffner's urging us to all become change agents rubbed off on Art. He was certainly a master in our profession and will be sorely missed simply because I feel he had so very much more to contribute to all of us as eye care practitioners. And besides that, he was just a nice guy. It sounds so simple, but these days, that seems to be an extraordinarily rare commodity.

Dear Dr Steinhauser,

I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Art's passing. My heart breaks for you.

Please remember all of those people that he touched in life. Although I never met Art in person but

watched him online in multiple zoom webinars since the start of the pandemic. I will always remember

his love for Optometry and expertise in dry eyes. The treatments that I learned in Art's dry eye master classes,

I still use everyday in my current practice. My sincere condolences to you for your loss.

Regards,

Dr David Monroe

This is shocking to hear of the passing of Dr. Epstein. He was the only doctor that ever took my dry eyes seriously. I drive all the way from Florence to see him and it was so worth it. He took the time and dedication to make my eyes, better and I'm so thankful for that. He will be missed.
Art was, and still is,  a mentor to everyone in eye care. We spoke once or twice a year and his advice was always given with a caring heart and filtered by his incredible intellect. I will truly miss my friend. I am very grateful to God for Art.
My prayers and thoughts  to Dr. Shannon Steinhouser and family.
So very sad to see the information about Dr. Epstein's passing.   I considered him not only my doctor, but a friend as well.  I had seen many eye doctors in the past who simply dismissed my severe dry eye condition as a minor problem.  I was truly miserable with the condition, and Dr. Epstein was the only doctor that took it seriously and committed to helping me get better.  With his treatment protocols my dry eyes are so much better, and I feel like a new person.   His kindness, compassion, knowledge, and skill were truly beyond comparison, and I will miss him greatly.
I send my deepest condolences to Dr. Shannon Steinhauser and family.
Dr. Epstein was a phenomenal eye specialist and an incredible conversationalist!! I don’t think there was any subject matter he was not well versed in. I was grateful to have found him to care for my vision and delighted by our conversations. My condolences to his wonderful wife and family.
Dr. Epstein was the first physician to actually acknowledge the severity of my dry eye issue and actually listen to me and DO something about getting me better.  I am also a medical Provider, and needing to do surgery in my practice.  I have routinely recommended him to my own patients and will sorely miss him.  My sympathies and condolences to his wife and family and the team at Phoenix Eye Care - I hope you will continue to carry on and do the good work he started.  Victoria F. Dr. Steinhauser, and the team at PEC,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Epstein.   He was an amazing doctor who was not only gifted with his knowledge and expertise, but also a truly genuine person with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

I am grateful for his knowledge and consultation over the years.

Please accept my sincere condolences. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
