Mandy's obituary

Armando Lazaro Leal, known by many as Mandy, was born in Rochester, New York to his parents Reinaldo Leal and Velia Ramos Leal. He had two siblings - Reynaldo and Rebecca. When he was 8 years old his family moved from Rochester to Hialeah, FL, in a small community which he loved so dearly known as Mango Hill. In this city, Mandy grew up and built a lifetime brotherhood with his childhood friends Rick Abin, Will Garcia, and Anthony Vargas. He also built a lifelong friendship with Bernie de Armas, who he met through his first job at just 18 years old.

In 1995, Mandy met Zoe, whom he married on October 25th, 1997. Their marriage was blessed with two amazing children - Emmie and Matthew. As the family grew, they cherished moments of adventure, embarking on road trips in and out of Florida. Mandy's love for nature made these road trips his favorite form of vacation.

An aficionado of 80s and 90s music, particularly freestyle, hip-hop, and rock, Mandy's heart beat to the rhythm of Van Halen, his all-time favorite rock group. Motorcycling and being around cars, along with keeping meticulous stats on his favorite sports - baseball and basketball - were his favorite hobbies. A die-hard fan of the Miami Marlins and Miami Heat, his passion for sports knew no bounds.

Mandy's infectious sense of humor, paired with his down-to-earth demeanor, made him memorable to all who knew him. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and in-law, he was the epitome of loyalty and selflessness. Whether with family or friends, he was always ready to lend a helping hand without hesitation.

On March 16th, 2024, our beloved Mandy was called to heaven after a long battle due to cardiac arrest. He leaves behind his dear wife Zoe and children Emmie and Matthew; his loving sister Rebecca, his niece Katie, and nephews David and Andrew. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Carmen, brother-in-law Abel and his wife Ivonne, sister-in-law Joy and her husband Javier, nieces Caitlin and Kathryn, and nephews Joseph and Jason. Mandy will be greatly missed by many - his immediate and extended family, his friends, and colleagues. He will live in our hearts and memories forever.
