We have visited Ptown many times, usually in the summer, and it is where we got engaged, on the beach, in 2009. During one of our visits we wandered up the stairs into Tony’s studio and fell in love with his large paintings - particularly those depicting a vast cloudy sky above the beach, the dunes, and the water – so we commissioned one (complete with a lighthouse … easy to add, he said). It hangs on our bedroom wall and reminds us of our happy times on the beach, thousands of miles from our home on ‘the other coast’.
After that initial visit we made sure to drop into the studio each time we were in town, and Tony always remembered us. One year he offered us his Jeep for a beach drive – just handed over the keys, told us where to go, and off we went for the day. Another time he encouraged us to try charcoal drawing. We only saw him once each year, and probably for less than an hour each time, but nonetheless he will always be part of Ptown for us.

Dear Kerry,
We were so sadden to learn of Tony's passing.
Please know we are sending you and your family much love and strength at this heartbreaking time.
Love, Gwen and Andy
So sorry to hear this news. We had the pleasure of meeting Tony after falling in love with his painting in P-Town. I believe it was Kerry who introduced us. He brought us into his painting storage loft and helped us select one of his beautiful flower sprays. It hangs prominently in our dining room. I always marvel at it and it brings me back to that special afternoon when we met so very briefly. A Paul was a kind and talented man whose creativity touches our souls every day. Gone to soon but not forgotten.
Thank you to the family who loved and lived with him. There are no accidents. You must be amazing for him to paint as he did.

Dear Kerry,
Diane & I met Tony a few years back and had some great conversations with him over the years in his 2nd floor studio. He was always gracious and patient. Unfortunately we did make make the ferry trip from Boston to PTown this past summer. We are beyond stocked and saddened to hear of his passing. We wanted to let Kerry know that you are in our thoughts & prayers. We've always loved coming into your gallery and have always appreciated your hospitality.
Our sincere condolences to you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Tony was the Carmichael St big brother to several of us. Always inclusive, friendly and generous, he let me play with big kids, tag along to social events and play in his basketball games even though he knew I could not make a basket. We looked up to Tony then...and now. May God bless him and may he Rest In Peace....
I was saddened to hear of Tony's passing. Tony played a such a major role in the development of Liberty's services to individuals with disabilities in its formative years.
It was amazing and a tribute to Tony's versatility that he was able development a successful career as an artist upon retirement.
Barbara and I offer our sincere condolences to Kerry and extended family

His love and dedication to his art, his demeanor and warm personality. Five minutes after I met him, I felt like he had been my friend all my life.
In response to "What made A. Paul different from most people you know?"
I am so sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. Our sincere condolences to Kerry and the rest of the family.
I first met Tony and Kerry while buying art for a large renovated space. The plan was to highlight several artists, but ultimately it became a large collection of Tony’s work because of the sheer beauty of his paintings. This led to a wonderful friendship. I can still see Tony sitting on the steps outside his studio, and have lovely memories of painting with him - always with amazing music and heartfelt, intense and revealing conversations. He wasn’t afraid to follow his passions, and first among them was his amazing wife, Kerry - his North Star. His face would light up when he told me how they met. Tony, I will miss you dearly, and promise to “walk away from the painting”, a metaphor for art and life. My condolences and deepest sympathy.

What terribly sad news. We were lucky enough to have met Tony several times at his studio where he always took the time to show us around, to introduce us to other artists and to impart a little bit of wisdom. He’d pull pieces out and work the lights to show us how dramatically the paintings would be effected. I’d sneak a peak at Tony while he was doing this - the look of utter joy on his face made me smile. We always left the studio a little art-smarter than when we came in. A kind, generous and lovely man. He will be missed. Our deepest condolences. Ana and Steve Mernick
I met Tony, who I knew as A. Paul, in his studio in PTown. I visited him in his studio over several years, and was always attracted to his work. I eventually purchased two of his paintings - cherished both for their artistic qualities and for my discussions with him about their subjects. It was very surprising and sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends.
Tony had a presence about him. When he’d walk into the room, you just HAD to smile. He was a wonderful soul.
He will most definitely be missed.

With my sincerest condolences,

It was a pleasure meeting A.Paul. He went out of his way to talk about painting and introduce us to other painters in his studio.

I really admired a roof-top scene he'd painted and he very generously painted a unique version that fit my much smaller space.

We later enjoyed hearing about the Tour of America Artists adventure.

My heart and prayers go out to Kerry and all his family and friends.
I am so sad to hear of Tony’s passing and I love the image of him painting from above. I am sitting in my condo in Brewster looking out on cape cod bay....the light is magical as the sun is starting to go down. I am surrounded by MANY of his paintings and Home Again is the one I am drawn to now. I have had the honor to have known Tony, played and painted in his studio. Never did get to go sailing together. Kerry, please accept my sincere condolences, hugs and love ❤️ BA.
PS cancer sucks
It was in the old Cortile studio. Somehow I found myself painting there, in a Commercial Street studio, listening to Beatles music from the building next door. Tony told me to stay as late as I wanted to, as long as I cleaned the brushes. This was a dream for me, one that Tony made possible. He encouraged my meager painting talent, gave me advice, gave me a space, and for a while, everything was right with the world. Tony was an intelligent, giving, and funny guy, and what he did for me will stay with me forever. I, like everyone else who knew him, will miss him and I wish his family Strength and peace. So glad to have known you Tony!
